How many more passengers are going to be inconvenienced through their booked airline relying on the services of an airline with a very poor leasing contract history? That in turn reflects on the airline they made their original booking.
Cos KLM never cancel flights or chop and change the size of the aircraft on their UK regional routes, do they?

The pile on is starting a bit early.

Whilst I agree people shouldn't pile on too much, regrettably it looks like there are already issues. Eastern were due to operate the second early evening KLM Southampton flight today, but it has been cancelled...

I do hope things can improve for Eastern.

Not really, we all know what is going to happen, Aurginy even came out publicly and said they cancelled the contract because they were so dreadful. On day 1 it's already gone to pot. It's not a case of people wanting an airline to fail, because Eastern could be a fantastic little airline, with fantastic crews that try their hardest to keep the show going, unfortunately those above let it down.

"I do hope things can improve for Eastern".

Well they've had enough opportunities thus far and still fail.

How the he'll they survive is beyond me. So many lost opportunities especially since the demise of Flybe.

Let's see how long this contract with KLM lasts for.

Surely if the current contract with KLM fails then no other reputable airline would consider using Eastern in the future.

So, a summary of day one with 14 sectors scheduled over 2 aircraft:

3 x on time arrivals
4 x Amber late arrivals
5 x Red late arrivals (more than 45 min delay)
2 x Cancellations

A roughly 20% on time performance for day one.

Tomorrow will be 16 sectors.

It's a real shame as they have some great customer feedback and the crew seem to genuinely go the extra mile. However their management evidently either don't have a clue, or simply don't care.

A better second day. 16 rotations.

7 on time arrivals (within 15 minutes)
4 amber delayed arrivals (delay 15-45 minutes)
5 red delayed arrivals (delay over 45 minutes)

44% on time performance.

G-CMPI was a nightmare yesterday. Of the 8 sectors, only one landed on time. Many flights were not just late, but almost two hours late.

Today, the morning flights into and out of Teesside are cancelled (reason could be nothing to do with Eastern of course). That said, CMLI has been drafted in to do the Newcastle run today but even this is over an hour late (and counting).

Given most passengers on these flights are connecting, you really have to worry what this will do to reputation, confidence and loads if this continues.

Thankfully for Southampton it seems the Eastern operated flight on the Amsterdam service that was cancelled was a one off and since then has been flown on time by KLM e-jets.

You may find the SOU is Sunday only as the usual MME afternoon isn’t operating at the minute.

Looks like CMPI made it from Teesside to Amsterdam this morning and keeled over there. CMLI has gone out from Humberside to take over the lunchtime AMS-NCL-AMS rotation, presumably helping to get engineers and bits to AMS too?

Whilst not being a fan or defender of Easterns record,l think closer inspection of the current situation will find that the root of the problem will be found to be with KLM,s own internal struggles and with the slot situation at AMS.
Sadly, Easterns own reputation makes them an easy target for any current failings and of course any tech problems they encounter can only make them, their detractors easy target.

I have some sympathy for this and KLM must take some responsibility.

But to show you how bad things are, let me show you the PM departures from NCL and MME these last three days:

KL958/2nd - 1 hour 50 minutes late
KL958/3rd - 1 hour 50 minutes late
KL958/4th - 2 hours 10 minutes late

KL966/2nd - 1 hour 50 minutes late
KL966/3rd - 2 hours 25 minutes late
KL966/4th - 2 hours 30 minutes late.

On top of this, we have had cancellations and multiple other delays. We’re only on Thursday of week one!

Plus my understanding is HUY/GLA aren't doing too badly (I stand to be corrected) - if true why Teesside?

Apologies if this is mentioned somewhere else but why does KLM need the extra capacity anyway, I thought they had more Embraers now than they ever had Fokkers?

Been flying the Norwich route for almost 40 years and always been reliable if expensive.

Problems with the P & W engines. The article is over a year old, but as far as I know, 5 are still out of service. https://www.airdatanews.com/most-of-...re-not-flying/

Same engine issues (PW GTF's) affecting the new Airbus A220 as well, plus the A320Neo series are also affected by issues with their PW1100G's
Not a good look for PW

Today, the family powers three primary fleets:
A320Neo Family – PW1100G (applications are about 40 percent with remainder powered by CFM LEAP)
A220 – PW1500G
Embraer E2 Family – PW1900G

Not sure how they can blame that. Only 18 of their 65 strong fleet uses the new engine. The others are on the tried and tested cf34 which has been around for 40 years. Plus it seems like the 195E2 was brought in to largely replace the 737-700 at mainline so shouldn’t be affecting performance on long standing regional routes. I suspect it’s more a crewing issue or over stretching themselves. Always surprises me to see the the likes of HUY and MME with 4 flights a day.
