PDL dropped
Very sad to see Ponta Delgada dropped in a fit of pique by FR. We've been visiting for a number of years now and love it there. Now FR won't even fly in from LIS or OPO, never mind STN. Any chance that the Portuguese authorities might intervene to get the flights back? As it is, now there's only BA's expensive seasonal direct flight. Maybe Azores Airlines will relaunch LGW, although they appear to be broke..

Indeed, Ryanair are no doubt playing the situation in the Azores to their advantage. With Azores Airlines at threat of closure if a privatisation deal isn't successful, this leaves the Azores in a particularly desperate situation. Either the privatasion will happen and Azores Airlines will make it's own commercial decisions, or they'll be little option but to bow down to Ryanair's demands to keep a reasonable level of service and prevent the implications of a TAP monopoly on routes to Lisbon and Porto.

Ryanair scraps VIP scheme after customers take too many cheap flights
On Friday, the low-cost airline said it was ending its “Prime” membership programme after just eight months because a surge of bookings had led to €1.6m (Ł1.4m) of losses.
Under the plan, members could pay Ł79 a year and get monthly discounts of up to Ł60 off return flights, as well as free travel insurance and seat reservations.

However, Ryanair said the trial programme had “cost more money than it generated” with subscription fees bringing in €4.4m but members receiving more than €6m in discounts.
The scheme will be closed to new members with immediate effect before shutting down completely next October.

Can Ryanair UK and DAC crew fly together? For example if Ryanair UK decided to base 1 aircraft in BOH which is a DAC 2 aircraft base, would they still be able to get the efficiencies they need from the base or would it be more complex than that?

Irish registered aircraft and Ryanair UK are on a different AOC so, no, you cannot easily mix and match.

No, they can't unfortunately, because the UK CAA is no longer participating in EASA. RUK is the only exception in the Ryanair Group, as RYR, RYS and MAY are fully interchangeable nowadays.

Which is better than BA as the LGW fleet can't easily operate mainline LHR routes like before as they're on a seperate AOC.

Pre Brexit TUI UK and TUI Nordic were effectively operating on a single AOC - in reality they had dual AOCs but perfectly mirrored so anyone could do anything whether it was a G- or SE- registered aircraft. So the UK CAA will allow mixing of AOCs, just not with foreign ones anymore for obvious reasons.

All Ryanair crew can interchangeably operate on their whole fleet regardless of AOC/registration. There may be slight differences that need to be briefed prior to operation per each, but its simply a swipe of a button an ipad to cover that off. The exception to this ofcourse is pilots on the Airbus fleet of Lauda. That's purely because of the aircraft type difference. Also G- registered aircraft, due to them not falling under EASA rules has some exceptions on operation, although ultimately the aircraft and safety equipment is identical to the rest of the fleet.
The G- registered aircraft are purely for operating on flights ex-UK to and from non-EU destinations and UK domestic. There would be no need for all Ryanair aircraft based in the UK to be G- registered. It would instantly restrict a huge number of their aircraft being interchangeable throughout their operation when the majority of flights are to and from EU destinations.
Please note, this is nothing to do with crew contracts. Thats a seperate conversation altogether and depends on the entity of the company on which their contract is signed.
