Saudi-UK defence contracts extend way beyond Tornado/Eurofighter/Hawk and RR - Into land and sea equipment, intelligence and IT and even medical technology. Many of these industries are on or near the M40/M5 corridors.

With Birmingham City Council being effectively Bankrupt, what affect does that have for the airport, ie freeze on all capital spend? I know they are part owners..
I suppose that one possible outcome could be that parts of the 'family silver' could be flogged off, perhaps including their share of BHX?

My understanding is that the local authorities only own 49% of the airport, and that ownership is split between the 7 metropolitan boroughs of the West Midlands (Dudley, Walsall, Solihull etc) - not sure if they each own an equal stake but I therefore wouldn’t expect Birmingham City Council’s financial woes to have any impact!

Intriguing flight times BHX-SZG EJU4489 13:30 and SZG-BHX EJU4490 18:25 commences 13 January (only 9 flights)
Still waiting to see which routes out of Amsterdam Paris and Lyon get re-timed and thus the unlucky one getting 18:55 departure from BHX which is a fine time to guarantee empty seats in winter.
CDG is favourite as it recommences on a Saturday on 13 January but not sure a 9pm local arrival in CDG is a great idea in winter. I reckon a 9:45 day if it was Lyon so again possible unless the weather decides not to co-operate
I assume G- & HB- aircraft can't operate EJU flights regularly ruling out EDI, GLA BFS & GVA?

Would it take connecting passengers from other carriers? Not sure it would be my first choice to fly with but nonstop would be a plus. Amazing to see an eg A350 Air China sitting at one of the gates if it ever came to pass. Not sure how the other regional China routes are doing but think MAN had an upgauge in frequency with Hainan

Ryanair winter
Seems that they are doing their annual winter pruning.
Stockholm and Toulouse removed all but a few early November dates and then back mid March.
Stockholm is motoring and I wonder if it is to do with the base as all flights thus far have been BHX based but winter is Stockholm oops wrong tense, was all Stockholm based.Hopefully this one might get added back.
Cork reduced 4 to 3 per week, Shannon 3 to 2, Dublin 35 to 31, Faro 4 to 3, Stockholm 2 to nil, Toulouse 2 to nil and Grenoble 2 to 1 most weeks from when it starts. A lot of it bar the Stockholm is pretty realistic to be honest and not really much to question.
The good news is over the Christmas period all the reduced frequency flights are restored plus extra flights to Poznan, Bucharest, Sofia, Verona, Bergamo, Murcia, Oporto, Malta and Alicante. The 3 Thursday over Christmas and New Year shows 9 additional flights

Nice to see FR add another route at BHX although I'm pretty sure they operated BUD briefly a few years ago? Could be wrong....

To be fare Toulouse is likely to be yield based and probably was not getting filled other than at low fares. Stockholm is more a mystery as it has been doing well operating from the BHX base and then suddenly it is listed to change to Stockholm based at awful times for winter and it has gone.
No yield data of course but Stockholm last winter was okay load factor wise
