Turkmenistan & PLAY obviously use STN already, time will tell if frequencies will increase there or if slots become available at LHR, will be off like a shot.
Alitalia pre ITA looked at both Luton & Stansted in the past to boost London Italian traffic and that was when A300s were very regular at LHR.
With the full signs likely to come at LHR S24 we could see some of the current Cargo 747F and DHL traffic squeezed out. STN likely to benefit again.

Turkmenistan just returned to Heathrow albeit just weekly and off peak at that .Probably able to lease a similar afternoon Saturday slot at a reasonable price from someone .

Those very late evening (last flights of the day) and weekend DHL for IAG world cargo slots are pretty useless for anything else.

Random Cargo 747s again mainly either late afternoon or weekend slots like wise .

The only real victim (self inflicted ) must be ITA (ne Alitalia), they literally sold the Crown Jewels to Etihad.
At some point I suggest they are hoping on Lufthansa to donate a morning slot to restore Rome to a viable frequency.

The usual candidates have their valuable Atlantic morning slots and the limited Asia routes limp on with a split stupid o’clock or late afternoon arrival schedule.

As for Vietnam they “may” have to go the Gatwick or consolidate back in Paris ( the one the watch I suppose)

In all honesty it’s a pretty standard slot allocation.

Vietnam went through this last year as although they kept their winter slots, they lost their summer slots.

I was caught up in the mayhem of that day and it was indeed the unlucky combination of strong winds reducing arrival rates and ATC staff shortage

The Financial Times reported last week:
Heathrow airport explores options for smaller expansion. Focus on cheaper imprivements rather than third runway being considered as new chief launches review.
Reailty has made it to the surface. The non R3 has been plain for years.

Perhaps the various PSOs currently operated by Eastern/Loganair?

Given number applied for, perhaps LHR-BHD?

SeanM1997 is reporting on X, that a new airlines could very well be about to announce a LHR service. Can’t see from ACL report who this could be, as no new airlines granted slots, so could be some form of slot trade?

With BA offering LHR-BHD I doubt the ATR72 would be an attractive alternative IMHO. Knock has done well on the A320 for years out of LGW and now LHR as a "W" route with DUB, so I would be surprised to see them drop to an ATR unless they were going to base one.

Looks a little interesting going into LHR this afternoon. Just caught a bit of Big Jet TV and it doesn’t look very good. An AA made an interesting fist of it. Boys and girls earning the money today at LHR.

Cheers

This in City A.M.

New £10 charge to change at Heathrow will ‘hand lead’ to European rivals
... Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) means passengers arriving in Britain have to pay a £10 fee and wait up to three days for an online permit, even when travelling via connecting flights. It will be mandatory for all “non-visa” overseas visitors to the UK by the end of 2024, excluding Irish people, and has already been introduced for Qatari nationals.
The Home Office says the policy will strengthen border security and improve customer experience. However, the aviation sector argues that in almost every other country around the world, passengers on connecting flights need only meet the requirements of their final destination.
Not sure how this will 'improve customer experience' in an area of which they have zero control but I'm sure that the Home Office know what they are doing ...

The same as US Esta, the Canadian, Australian, New Zealand and the forthcoming EU equivalents. They make money from British Citizens so why not Status Quo Ante?

US has never offered international transit AFAIK. All arriving pax must clear US immigration, hence the ESTA requirement. I still remember the frequent huge queues at the Blue Line for transiting pax at Miami at 5am in the 90's, most of which couldn't read the "Transit Passengers Only" sign. Thankfully I had several hours to make my connection.

I have had no experience with the other countries mentioned.
