I beg to differ regarding those three airports are full. After the early morning rush things quieten down and I suggest ways will be found to accommodate the supporters. Aircraft will arrive and drop off passengers and leave empty maybe returning with another load of supporters. Also there will be a multitude of corporate flights to be accommodated. We will just have to wait and see. Do not forget London is chosen becasuse it has the infrastructure (?????) to put on these huge sporting events. The previous week should also be busy with the Champions rugby final.

These conversations occur every time there is a major international sporting event held at Wembley and every time the spotters are left wanting as the rush doesn’t materialise. Gone are the days of 747’s turning up or 2 rows of aircraft parked up for the day on the south stands and where supporters were bussed straight in and out of the airport so avoiding the delights of Luton’s terminal. Seem to remember the London Olympics failed to deliver as well for Luton after much speculation so I guess it will be a case of wait and see.
As for Southend, they have a 120 movement limit for the year in place from 11pm until 6am. I would imagine they could handle many supporter flights if they wish.

Southend has an opportunity to spoil Luton’s parade, as long as the departure is scheduled to leave before 23:30 using the shoulder period except the airport is a 90 minute coach drive away.

I was thinking more of multiple Iberia/Vueling & Eurowings, would they not need to go through terminal, not Jet Centre?
I used the Jet Centre opening hours to illustrate that aspect of potential visiting traffic, although the SJC has handed aircraft as large as B757 in the past. For visiting fans charters the terminal would presumably open as required, subject to the Section 106 agreement limitations. Those obviously limit the potential SEN has in that context.

I wouldn’t get too excited for much at Luton apart from biz jets.
There are two Iberia Flights into STN on the 1/6
both A320s at 09.55 and 10.25 that are bookable on their site.
Am guessing they have upgraded a/c on London routes to take the extra demand.

The ACL start of season report gives hints of additional flights. One each BA (98 seats E190?), Volotea (156 seats A319?), Sunclass (212 seats A321?) and Neos (186 seats B738?) are in the programme for S24.
The capacity declaration for W24 releases a further 4 stands and 500,000 passenger air transport movements in anticipation of progress towards 19m pax.

Construction/destruction update.
.Work continues on the second temporary drop off area.
The bus station roundabout has disappeared under tarmac.
A drop off lane with turning circle but how much will be charged for the convenience of the location?
The car park still stands after seven months and three days since the great fire of Luton Airport

As much as possible!

Here’s something that I hadn’t come across before last week… was on a 1h flight on a dry day on a 737-800, departing from the intersection of Taxiway H from RWY07. Usually from that runway we’d typically go fullish length without a backtrack. Not sure how much margin exactly was available but it didn’t feel like there was much left over after the wheels were off the ground!
