Iím thinking JetBlue will end up at Gatwick.

Norwegian and JetBlue have signed a letter of intent to form an interline agreement, enabling for a single booking for connecting flights between the US and Europe.

AA

AA never failed at STN, they came in to kill off competition and having succeeded scuttled back to LHR.

KL and LH both been in STN and both went away again. Killed off by LCCs no doubt and there probably wasn't much yield from their feeder traffic.

KL had a big operation at STN back in the day. What was once the AirUK operation, later KLMuk and finally Buzz. What is now the weatherspoons in satellite 2 was once a KLM lounge. Some of the blue panelling still remains!

KL in its own right has never actually operated ex STN. Not post 1990 to my knowledge. As above, KLM UK/Air UK (UK) did have a base, was Air UKís HQ back in the day.
KLM/Cityhopper would I agree, be a good addition to the STN network and offer connections to the wider KLM network via Amsterdam. Seems to work well from airports a lot smaller than STN.

Cant see LH returning personally, but then who would have thought SK would have returned? But they did. And theyíve added Oslo from next summer too.

On the subject of lounges, anyone in the know know of any plans to add anymore? A big airport to feature just one option IMHO.

I hope so! The current Escape is woefully small for the volume of passengers. The entrance on the corridor to the toilets isnít brilliant either.

Youíd imagine that there would be opportunity for something very nice above the shops, built as a mezzanine. Much like weatherspoons have. I guess there would be a lot of disruption for current tenants, so thatís ruled out until the current border/baggage reclaim areas are repurposed.

There was word of an EK lounge once the service went double daily. Some even stating that an area in satellite one had been cornered off ready to work on?

Being a MAG airport, Iím surprised weíve yet to see an Aspire lounge open. Would be a good fit. Number One once had two lounges, one at satellite one and I believe one at satellite three (Ryanair). Wonder if theyíd show an interest again?

Agreed that walking down that toilet corridor to reach the lounge hardly fills one with a sense of tranquility, serenity or luxury. 😳

I know that Emirates are due to be getting a lounge in SAT1 but have not heard of adding double jet bridge? Do you have a link or source ?

Absolutely fantastic news if this is true. Are the gate/seating areas in satellite 1 large enough to accommodate A380 passenger loads? Also, is there any news on sat 2 and 3 upgrades yet?

You are indeed correct. I was recently in satellite 2 on a flight to Pescara and you can just about make out where the former KLM lounge once was with the blue panelling. Sad in a way, as despite the recent terminal redevelopment, BAA/MAG have left this area untouched for years, and it is now looking very tired and forgotten. I do reckon KLM would be a nice fit to the STN network. Their recent order of 35 Embraer 195s should permit the airline to expand. They already have LCY nicely covered and with LHR now packed to the gills, I reckon STN should stand a good chance for KL's return. The potential for success is certainly strong, especially when you factor in the wider network via AMS and the fact that demand for long haul in STN's catchment is growing. Perhaps MAG could reinstate/introduce a lounge or two in sat 1/2 which may further STN's appeal to KL (as well as other carriers).

As carrier that operates a least two sometime three daily slot sitters into Heathrow with Brasilians that then hang around T4 for HOURS at a time Plus numerous LCY rotations KLM/KLC arenít exactly short of London capacity !

Thereís no point building an emirates lounge for one daily flight. We were told during training, only when a station serves three daily flights is it worth building a lounge.
