KL in its own right has never actually operated ex STN. Not post 1990 to my knowledge. As above, KLM UK/Air UK (UK) did have a base, was Air UK’s HQ back in the day.
KLM/Cityhopper would I agree, be a good addition to the STN network and offer connections to the wider KLM network via Amsterdam. Seems to work well from airports a lot smaller than STN.
Cant see LH returning personally, but then who would have thought SK would have returned? But they did. And they’ve added Oslo from next summer too.
