Erm on the Fly Be Pprune thread 10 days ago it claimed that the airline is taking it's maintenance in house and will not be renewing it's contract with MAEL ?

As a mechanic I am happy to work on any aircraft and can do so quite easily. The licensed guys I work with are happy to have both the 'puddle jumpers' and the large aircraft as they see benefit of having both on their tickets. My point was purely that whilst the big aircraft are a turn on for some people you cannot deny the steady stream of work the Q400 and Embraer bring and associated income for the company. If they replace that stream then fair enough, but why turn down steady work which has filled 50% of the hangar for years.
I guess the possible move which you talk of not doing 3rd party work (Q400 and EMB) must be a concern at the line stations which are manned for such activities, as I see it the 8 or so puddle jumpers per night and busy movements during the day provide security. A long haul operation and 8 brand new 737 max could unfortunately open the exit doors for those unqualified on types?

Confirms what I have been hearing, apart from little word on Jet2 - Monarch as we know it will likely be sold in parts, with easyJet, Norwegian etc all looking to buy certain bits which are right for them.
That German article is a bit light on detail.

Norwegian are after the Gatwick slots, and I presume easy are doing the same. Sounds like Wizz is after the AOC to get a UK AOC - Jet2 have been mentioned to me a lot, but seems to be quite quiet.

Given the types they operate ,Monarchs gold care approval from boeing plus the fact they already maintain their aircraft in the uk might suggest the engineering arm may also be of interest to Norwegian
Given the projected size of the fleet one potential maintenance provider with a bloody great hangar at brum that currently carries out 787 maintenance may make sense

Interesting 're engineering base.
Norwegian do use MAEL at BHX .. but to muddy the water, Boeing are to build a new hangar at Gatwick(pictures show it looking very similar to the BHX hangar) and will also take up to 2 77W types.
Reported to be going to Norwegian under Boeing gold care.
If Norwegian do buy MAEL as well, will they cancel the Gatwick hangar.. (work not started on it yet) or can they find enough work for both ?

Monarch takeover - CMA issues
I am guessing that easy have @ 45% of LGW slots? (someone correct me?)
Don't know what percentage easy have at LTN but it must be quite high.
I am sure that easy would like to grow at Manchester and maybe establish Birmingham as a real base too.
What I am suggesting is that the CMA might make it very difficult for easy to expand at LTN and LGW.
If Norwegian took over some Gatwick operations - mainly LH, and if Wizz took over some LTN, leaving the 'New' Monarch with LH out of LTN & LGW that would keep the CMA sweet.

The Long Haul play seems to be something either the management or Greybull want to do, using the Monarch name as a completly new rebirth.
