Surely they'll announce soon - they've got checkin due to open for the first morning wave in just a couple of hours.

I thank you all for reporting the facts, I even thank you all for reporting the fiction - because that's all we have to plan our immediate futures on. Our peers are no where to be seen.

For this reason only, I wish someone could be held accountable, but suspect not.
That's pretty poor, if there's been no comms about it, though I suspect the number of people "in the know" is under 10 in total (if that) and so the other 2490 of you are all in the same boat.

I could make a comment that this sort of info holding and lack of visibility could be a factor in why this sort of thing keeps happening, but I'd best not...

Duly noted, but in reality does this really mean the end... it just doesn't seem right to happen this way?

Sad

Flown with Monarch many times and always had good experience. Would seem to me that if there was any chance of survival the two flights would have been delayed rather than cancelled

It mostly always ends like this first time for me was a phone call saying that's it.
Baby was rare in that it wound down slowly.
And now this.

Without wanting to kick anybody while they were down because there is a lot of jobs at stake here. If I was in your position I would consider booking an alternative before competition airlines increases their prices or worst still are full and there is no alternative.

When airlines have suspended operations it has historically been industry practice for competitor airlines to allow passengers whose flights have been cancelled to buy a new ticket for the same price. I would wait and see how things unfold over the next few days.

Thoughts are of course with those whose livelihoods are at stake.

And this is happening when oil is cheap! What's the future of the industry if things get harder?

There have been communications from top level management, but it's obviously not particularly detailed. There is a lot of negotiating going on, they're not going to publish every development. Surely this isn't surprising.

The cancellations of the IBZ flights are not a good sign at all.

Well, it's just turned into tomorrow. All we can do is wait and see.

Good luck all, that's all I can say.

Passengers on the IBZ flight from LGW were advised at the boarding gate that the flight is cancelled. They are still being held at the boarding gate area, apparently. No information on whither they will be travelling of if they are to go and collect luggage.

Certainly doesn't sound good.

Bad for the passengers but they'll get over it. It's the staff I feel for, should the worst happen.

So sad for all the great people who worked at MON- some of the best people I ever had the privilege to work alongside. So many stayed loyal believing that Greybull were in it for the long term .......they deserved better.

As one who suffered the same fate many years ago as Tomomac33 whilst an FO at Debonair, he has my sympathy. The harsh reality is that in the death throes of the company, the management cannot say anything until the plug is pulled. The good news is that Monarch pilots enjoy a sterling reputation in the industry and pretty-well anyone who wants a job will have one very quickly. You have my deepest sympathy but my great assurance that you will all be ok in the end.

Same. There are some great people in Monarch and as you say, they deserved better on a lot of fronts. I am of course being premature in assuming the worst, but I have a horrid feeling that the game is up.

I need a drink and I'd better not post again on this thread for a while lest I lose my rag and say what I really think.

Gutting. It shouldn't have been this way. Private Equity is evil.

A7-LAC is on the move too.
