Any news on next season J32? I see the Powdair Website is still there but inactive. Its the longest day next week and skiers thoughts are turning to next year's plans.

All I know is that a VC fund is looking at taking over the brand.... the owner of that is well known around Valais - so if powdair does pop back up it will be well funded and probably just from London - thats as much as I know currently

Last year they went on sale on 13th June, with publications going out upto a month before.
Given that they have been very quiet, even if they start a media campaign tomorrow, it's be mid-Jul / August before they're on sale, probably missing the boat on the ski bookings.
Need to pull the finger out and crack on.

Well compared to other airlines that didn't make the start line at least from what I hear and have seen every passenger that booked was refunded... albeit not without problems due to world ticket being the holder of the funds etc but they all got their money back and from this side of the fence there is still a lot of positive understanding - it was more a case of sh$t happens when you are trying to get others to put in - if the new Hedge takes over they are an instantly recognised brand associated with pots of money - and pots of money over here talks...
also the bottom line is if you want to ski here and or have a chalet here then it will be the quickest and easiest option from London along with Swiss - its not like its a saturated market and whilst they didn't start - they are still alive and can relaunch without much damage it seems - if the confidence of money is there all of the teething problems will be forgotten quickly enough!

From what I hear - it is complete new owners not same owners with new money - although I also hear they need nick to steer the ship initially on a consultancy contract till a well known local English / Swiss aviation professional takes the helm.... watch this space but I would certainly not be writing off a renaissance of powdair as a name flying to the swiss alps.... clearly hangar chat currently but has substance and credibility attached to it.....
J32 - Thanks, just wondering as a couple of ski forums direct all aviation q's at me (even though I was military) and it will soon start. Wasn't quite expecting this amount of traffic to generate!!
Things are taking a turn for the worst as local MPs are now asking for an inquiry about public money being funnelled into this project.
Surprising - I thought it was a purely private venture.
In any case will keep an eye on further developments.

And public money inquiry??..... I think it would cost more money to hold the inquiry compared with the amount of money that I hear was handed over for marketing.... circa 100k CHF - and no matter which way you look at it - the whole of the Valais knew they were meant to be coming - although they didn't get airborne they certainly created a lot of media and public interest - which and by the sounds of things has made someone else get involved that has deep pockets and is local here in Valais...... a delay is not a failure...! A delay in aviation is commonplace..... Just sayin!
I don't disagree... Just wanted to learn more about the story as I was not aware of the state involvment.
If it is about 100k I guess it is almost symbolic.

Well, it was a marketing budget from the airport - and clearly, the airport is owned by the town... so it's all public purse money for SIR but it's not like they pumped hundreds of thousands or millions into it... well not that anyone can see or has been mentioned locally... just a token amount for marketing - some of the guys here spend that on a night out in Verbier... no news really!

Nah! don’t think there is any interest in this season other than blowing the trumpet for the new brand that will fly probably from next summer so that winter 19 is strong - there is not a hope in hell for anything for this season - most people would have already bought their EZY tickets.... but I suspect they will launch and declare this winter season ready for next but fly from summer..... just my thoughts..
