195's & new routes

One of the flybe 195's flew Manchester - East Mids this afternoon as BEE031M which is normally a maintenance flight number and of course this is normally done at Exeter or MAEL at BHX.

Has it gone to East Mids to be given the purple treatment or is it just "no room at the inn" or should I say the BHX or Exeter inn.

With the Regional Development Fund announcement is it likely that the summer 16 will be revised and how likely are they to take up the Southampton ones?

I think the greatest problem about the transfer time by road would be its unpredictability. There would be two main choices, either A40/M40/M25 or the A312 Hayes Bypass. If lucky you might be on the road 15 minutes, if unlucky, it would have been quicker to walk.

You also have the nearby underground stations at either Ruislip Gardens (Central Line) which is a 10 minute walk or Ruislip (Metropolitan & Piccadilly lines) which has a regular bus service which pass RAF Northolt.

Is Flybe's application to fly from Northolt little more than a PR stunt with a very high likelihood of ending up in the rubbish bin, or is there a fair chance of Govt saying yes subject to minor conditions ?

DJ6 - my assessment is that the first half of your sentence is correct.

Methinks there would need to be quite a bit of work needed at NHT to bring it up to CAA Standards - which surely would need to be the case for commercial flights to take place? (it is a military airfield after all).

That work could also shorten what is already quite a short main runway (with a 6 lane road at the western end).

Think this is hot air from Flybe. They're trying to build a base at LCY so why dilute with routes from another London Airport, which is a long way from the City and Canary Wharf?

As been posted before FBEM the Emb-195 went to EMA, can confirm with picture evidence that it has now received the purple treatment! (although not quite complete) so one assumes they will be around for a while now

Skyliner - aviation news & more (please note not my image, just sharing the link)

Purple livery has grown on me, certainly distinctive

What have you got against it? Regardless of what it looks like at least it has some colour. Take a look at Air Europa's new livery to see how bad it could be.

I don,t like it in general but, specifically, there is far too much purple.

One more positive vote here. Nacelles might have looked better with a miniature version of the overall scheme but thank goodness it's not another Eurowhite-with-logo-tail.

Personally I don't care what colour my aircraft is as long as it gets me from A to B safely! In any case like it or not, purple is their major corporate house colour.....I'm with the previous comment at least it's not another bland white fuselage with large logo......hello Iberia

Of course the colour of the plane does not decide who people fly with but a car only gets us from A to B yet we all still choose a colour. I think it's a rare good move by the new management and a departure from the trend for identikit euro white liveries with a small logo on the side. Standing out from the crowd is no bad move especially for marketing purposes.
