Methinks there would need to be quite a bit of work needed at NHT to bring it up to CAA Standards - which surely would need to be the case for commercial flights to take place? (it is a military airfield after all).
That work could also shorten what is already quite a short main runway (with a 6 lane road at the western end).
Think this is hot air from Flybe. They're trying to build a base at LCY so why dilute with routes from another London Airport, which is a long way from the City and Canary Wharf?
