2 changes when alone with a 23kg suit case and a 10kg hand luggage, really !? OK for me (maybe), but my daughter is 21 and struggles moving a 23kg case to the taxi outside the house ! Not really a viable option is the train with 2 changes.

Not sure they would relish two changes of train to get a flight from LGW rather than a direct flight from MAN, even with 12kg cases.
Years ago I used the BA service from MAN to LGW and it was usually pretty busy. Whether there is still sufficient demand though with a mix of connecting and business pax at both ends of the route to support a flight appears to be doubtful. And wouldn't there be slot restrictions at LGW at the busy times that business folk would want?

I was a little bored today so decided to have a look around the TCX website, however certain features didn't seem to be working. Therefore I moved over to the Condor site which has timetables loaded until the second week of November 2017. This is where the Goa flights show.

MAN-LGW would work for either EZY or RYR if they so desired.
LGW is IMO the best London airport to fly into as the train will take you into central London to Victoria or London Bridge. I don't really consider Paddington (off the Heathrow Express) to be central London.
The trouble with Virgin trains is that there is no competition between London and Manchester and therefore prices are eye-wateringly high in the morning. Someone like RYR could compete on price even when the last bit into central London is (ironically) by train. I would travel to London more often if there was a cheaper alternative than Virgin Trains.
Slots at LGW would be the problem I guess.

I was on AAL210 JFK-MAN 5/9/16
Arrived 20 mins early
Outside 20 mins after
Waited 5 mins for T/bus
On road 40 mins after arrival....sorted
eggc - Get her a suitcase with a extending handle and little wheels - they're great !

Lets not forget that Jet2 also failed to make this route a success despite high loads particularly in the morning.

I think we have to accept the LGW link is gone and unlikely to return.
It's also worth noting that in the summer scheduling season, LGW is very slot constrained in the morning so getting a decent slot that can connect into long haul departure banks at either end of the route would be hard to find and likely have to come at the cost of another service. Would a MAN route offer a higher yield than a service already operating? Probably not otherwise the MAN route would be the one with service, and not the other route.

Jet2 transferred the slots to a NCL service when they pulled the MAN route, at that time BA still operated the MAN service but had pulled the NCL route, leaving it unserved. This service was pulled some time later in favour again of sending the aeroplane to destinations where it made more revenue.

Very good news from TCX. I have tried their long haul offering twice now in PE and I have to say it was very good value for money. It's a far better product than say AA.
