Lets not forget that Jet2 also failed to make this route a success despite high loads particularly in the morning.
When Jet2 operated, BA were still operating x6 daily (I stand to be corrected on frequency). Any new entrant now would have the market to themselves. So who could/would operate it. BA - The 737's operated previously were 149 seater and were deemed too big, their smallest a/c now is 144 seater A319, so not much difference there. EZY - They did look at the route, but decided not to bother. BA Cityflyer - right size a/c, but no base at either end, so unlikely. Flybe - the most likely in my opinion, however, the stumbling block remains LGW's pricing structure which forced Flybe out in the first place.
