BRN-SEN
Nice to see some joint marketing from SEN and Skywork with a new flyer advert and free 1st class train ticket to all inbound pax. Found this through Skywork's website if you want to have a look. Hopefully this should encourage customers to continue using SX.

Stobart Air incident (EI-REM)
I noticed a few delays/cancellations today on the Flybe/Stobart Air flights. Appears that EI-REM had an engine problem shortly after take-off from Muenster.

NEWQUAY
Now the season's over, anybody got any idea how successful Newquay was? Chatting with someone a couple of weeks ago who had been there and back in June and whilst he didn't have any definite figures he seemed to think that it was very well patronised both outbound and return. Hope it returns next year.

The stats for NQY-SEN are available via the caa website. The numbers are down on last year but its a Q v a 319!
From what I understand from people who have flown the route it seems to be quite well supported but who knows what the yield was !
I would be shocked and surprised if it doesn't return, however many of the routes flown on the NQY based Q will depend if BE are awarded the tender to operate NQY-LON under the PSO contract.

Giving away a free 1st class train ticket sounds very generous from the airline. Almost generous enough to wonder whether someone at Skywork's head office is rather worried about advance booking numbers for the BRN-SEN route...

What is happening to cause the recent cancellations and long delays with the flights from DUB-SEN? I am sure a percentage of the regular users will get fed up and look elsewhere.

Sen/Dub Stobart Air/Aer Lingus
My sister was booked out next Wednesday SEN /DUB at 11.00 then on to Chicago and Cedar Rapids. Advised 2 hours ago SEN flight cxd, offered reroute via LGW at 0700. Offer declined, now flying ex SEN on Friday.
This is doing SEN no good. When a reason for the cancellation was requested the answer from Aer Lingus was operational reasons. If this uncertainty continues then it's goodbye to the Transatlantic traffic.

Aer Lingus Regional website is offering SEN to various American destinations on a couple of dates I have checked in November showing a code share with Flybe. I checked this out as I remembered it being discussed earlier,

The route is being transferred to FlyBE but the transatlantic is still bookable via Aerlingus through a codeshare, so it will have limited impact.
If the airline has operational issues, then they have to deal with them, every airline does them, you'll find many airlines have been cancelling flights at the moment due to pilot issues, I can think of a flag carrier in a similar situation … it's inconvenient but if the customer service is handled well then it will be fine and it sounds like they contacted the passenger in good time and found a solution

My understanding with regard to the free train tickets is that it's a SEN initiative and has been offered to a number of airports as part of their marketing campaigns.
I had to visit Groningen for a few days this past week and returning on Friday evening had my fastest ever transit through the terminal. It took just 6 minutes from aircraft steps to the train station and that included baggage reclaim! The total travel time from the aircraft to Liverpool Street was 67 minutes. It was a quiet time of day but the speed with which the bags arrived on the carousel was remarkable - there just being some 25 pax on the flight helped of course.
I don't know if the DUB flight cancellations have been partly caused by the fact that EI-REM is still out of service following its engine failure early last week. I did see it reported as a turbine failure but cannot confirm that. The standby aircraft, EI-REH, has been operating on the SEN European routes in its place all week.

How many flights a week were operating in each direction by EIR on SEN DUB in August, or over the summer months, and were these all by 72's, as in the past some were 42's.
August showed 6449 passengers, which would suggest that the loads (no referring to yield etc), that the service has been well subscribed, but again assuming similar level of movements as October timetable shows.
I'd be interested to see the level of transfer pax on SEN DUB, bound for the US. Difficult to ascertain that info, but I'd estimate it is now more than 5% of the SEN DUB service at best.
