Yes, but surely that’s only short term....anyone know when they plan to use their own aircraft and crews?
Any rumours about new/second hand aircraft? Delayed retirements of the old A319/320s...or even the 767?

Believe it has been said in a couple of places that the A319's (not sure if that is referring to the whole fleet?) and 10 A320's with Sharklets were moving over to Gatwick as the first NEO's get delivered to Heathrow. It also suggested that they would not be refurbished with the 'enhanced' new seats.

BA only have 10 A320’s with sharklets so I can’t see them moving them over to LGW. I can see some A320’s or A319’s moving but only once the NEO’s start arriving.
Either they lease in the extra capacity for LGW or cut the amount of flights and operate to the 80/20 rule.
Smartlynx and a few other operators surely have a few aircraft available for hire that would have normally been placed with Monarch. I know LS have taken 6 leases in aircraft this summer to cover their program but surely there is more available.

It has been said elsewhere that the 10 A320 with sharklets will eventually move to Gatwick along with extra A319. I expect by late September BA will be operating nearly all services on its own aircraft. By that time a few NEO Airbus will have been delivered to LHR.
Nothing unusual about airlines leasing in other aircraft during the busy summer months in Europe. Remember BA only purchased the slots in November 2017 so it will take time to service them all with it’s own fleet.

Sorry to hijack this post, but I wanted to ask all BA guys a question.
Cityflyer has been nibbling away at BA routes for a number of years now.
The latest news being that they are to operate LGW domestic routes.
My question is. Have BA BALPA missed this? Doesn't Scope say that if another BA owned operator flies a BA route, then they must be on the BA seniority list?
I think the BA guys are throwing their BALPA subscription away.
Just saying like.

The use of BA CityFlyer is only temporary until fleet can be further expanded at Gatwick after new neo deliveries to Heathrow. It is a wet_lease to BA in the same way as Titan is operating for BA.

I think it would be great if BA would use some of the Monarch slots for say NCL-LGW/ABZ-LGW/MAN-LGW but they would probably struggle to fill an A319 on those routes.

Actually Cityflyer have been quite successfully nibbling away at BA Heathrow routes, domestic in particular. What started off as an operation aimed at the new financial district at Canary Wharf has progressively taken a good deal of the O&D traffic that formerly went through Heathrow to mainstream Central London, and associated areas. It may come as no surprise that many MPs who used to go through the old efficient T1 domestics heading for their constituencies now turn the other way out of Parliament's front door and head for City.
Part of the reason for the decline in both aircraft size and frequency on Heathrow to GLA/EDI is that quite an amount of this traffic has self-shifted to City, for all its upsides: minimal check in time, ease of access, parking next to the terminal, etc. The "cherry" on the cake is, of course, that Cityflyer have retained proper, complimentary catering. The cabin crew even manage to get round everyone on the flight with it.

These would be classed as a different routes then. If Cityflyer were to operate LHR-GLA/EDI then your argument would stand, but they don't. So the statement that Cityflyer have not taken over a single route stands.
That might be correct if the statement had said "taken over". But it didn't. It said Cityflyer had been "nibbling away". And that is what has been happening. Even IATA would recognise it was the same passengers on the same city pair.

Maybe I need to accept that some posters have difficulty reading or slow processing skills. It has been said several times (in addition to BA themselves) that they will be wet leasing capacity from BA CityFlyer this summer until extra mainline aircraft come online. It's no big deal! Most airlines do it. Read, learn and move on!

If LHR does get a third runway, I suspect that position will change perhaps in the opposite direction.
Is it not also an obvious point that if BACF were not at London City, another operator - CityJet or even one that doesn't exist today - would be filling the gap at LCY and cannibalising BA's LHR traffic without any benefit to BA/IAG's bottom line? If they didn't do it themselves, someone else undoubtedly would.
