That's a decent increase.
Does that make it the UK's 6th or 7th biggest airport? I know Edinburgh and Luton have also been doing very well but I've completely lost track in recent years.

The schedule is nearly always increased holiday periods.

I can not remember what it was last summer.

Its two weekly this week however should increase back to 4x weekly next week before reducing to three weekly in June. MAN sees the same reduction as normal (down to 5x weekly).

Anyone know why FlyOne have delayed the start date of their Chisinau route by a month to 15 July ?
Would be nice to hear from someone who had some sort of solid information rather than just wild guesses - I'm more than capable of coming up with theories like 'bookings were weak' or 'lack of aircraft'

Great jubilation in Wales with the announcement of QR flights in 2018, but possibly with a narrow bodied aircraft.

What could this mean for BHX? Narrow body for us some or all of the time? ( not an attractive proposition to me)
Or would the fact that EK is the competition here keep the big Boeings coming?

I genuinely don't see it as having an impact on BHX, nor how they serve BHX.

Whilst we're yet to know aircraft type or frequency, it's unlikely it will be a daily 788 (though that said I never would have suggested they would pick CWL either - an airport of just 1.6m Pax). Yes CWL is in theory in our catchment but qatar aren't about to lesser their offer at BHX as a consequence, especially when they have been getting 80%+ loads pretty consistently on the 788 they use at BHX, and in competition with EK!!!

QR could introduce 'Introductory' fares to start with to entise pax to use the service, which may in turn have an impact on BHX and indeed LHR. However as the airport press have stated BHX has been a great success for the carrier with loads and yields 'beyond expectation'. Read what you like into that.

Interesting question. The biggest contributor to the downfall of Courtline was the economy, and a sterling crisis, which lead to severe foreign exchange restrictions, at a time when they were expanding aggressively.

I suppose you could say that although we're by no means there yet, if thing go horribly pear shaped in the next couple of years LS, along with others could be vulnerable - but thing would have to become pretty bad to take us back to the dark days of the late 60s and early 70s - the world has changed so much since then.
