Absolutely agree with you on that, with you all the way! I didn't make the original reference to the new aircraft question, it was another poster who asked and then the previous poster asked for a source so I supplied.

In reality we all know it's going to be a mix of based and other standby a/c from wherever it's available.

March Pax/Jet 2

https://www.birminghamairport.co.uk/...ngham-airport/

Not sure about these figures, certainly eye-catching as over 900K but for some reason I was expecting at least 10%. I suppose with Easter later this year it is not really like for like and taking that into account it might explain the single digit increase.

Jet2

A new aircraft operated a charter today relating to the Leicester City match tomorrow in Madrid. The actual Jet2 schedule flights were quite light considering the Easter Holidays.

Some quite strange schedules with Eurowings Vienna starting the end of March then virtually had a week off and this week United have 3 non-ops flights after going back to daily for a week.

The start of the Fly One service to Chisinau has been delayed until 15th July 2017

The times have changed to 11:55/13:10

Still showing as an A319, despite the Press Release showing A320

We may know but Jet 2 have conducted a huge marketing campaign in the last year, of which this has been one of the main tenets. The airport got rather cross in a tweet when I pressed them on this

What has it got to do with the airport?

Unlikely to have older model -800s based there due to some spares differences.
Old and new 738's currently based out of NCL, and have been for a while.

BHX may be used for overflow during the upcoming Champions League final due to limited parking at CWL & BRS although not sure how much spare parking there is at Birmingham (although may be space for bizjets over on the Elmdon apron). I guess the pax will be offloaded in either BRS or CWL and then aircraft will position out so no extra pax potentially for BHX

I read somewhere else we are to expect an announcement soon on a new "BHX-USA" route, has anyone else heard anything?
Is it from a current airline or a new airline like Delta Airlines?

Strange time for a new US route, especially when most airlines have been cutting.

Can't see it being any of the US3 with their recent UK capacity cuts.

The only one that I could see, and that would be unlikely, would be an airline tech stopping across the pond. But I doubt it.

How about Jet2 offering a series of Christmas flights to NYC like they do from their other bases?
A logical step.

2 already announced for this year if I recall correctly.

I'm afraid I really can't see another carrier coming to BHX with a proper scheduled service, I think BHX has been lucky to retain UA in the current climate,

Perhaps there's something else coming up with the Thomson Summer 2018, like Las Vegas or Fort Lauderdale. OK, I know I'm rambling now - I'll go for a lie down.

That, in my opinion, is the more likely of any number of unlikely scenarios.
