BA on LGW would be a real bonus?
I fail to see how it would be a bonus on the long term. Would completely undermine EI's base and would remove their busiest route.

Longer term could result in EI axing the base, i.e. as Winter would only have 1 route to LHR based on the current operation, unlikely to be sustainable.

I can't see why BA would waste slots at LGW on a domestic route, putting themselves up indirectly against EZY who are dominant and EI who apart from a brief period have only ever been 3x daily, both of which would be cheaper for point to point fares, therefore leaving business pax and connecting pax to chase. In order to seriously chase business customers you need high frequency, granted it could work in tandem with LHR and I'm not sure what level of connection passengers they would achieve with limited frequency and competing against their own high frequency LHR route.

It would certainly be a bonus as an Avios redemption opportunity to connect to all of BAs LGW routes. Doubt it would be a long-term bonus to BHD though.

Looking at aer lingus flights to Malaga and Faro for next year. In April there are no tues and thurs flights. Same late on sept. Lgw still 3 daily every day. Even on days the PMI goes. In July on a tues there is the 3 daily lgw, faro Malaga and Palma and 3 daily lhr. Can anyone shed any light? Are they maybe launching new routes with the existing aircraft beginning off the season and then bringing a fourth unit from end may?

I think EI operated a direct Verona from BHD, though I think this was a charter from The Travel Department. Unless these gaps in 2015 are to allow for expansion of these flights???

I'm sure the same thing happened last year and schedule was adjusted later. Some LGW flights were operated by LGW base on the days the aircraft were elsewhere, how this will pan out in 2015 I've no idea.

Just been checking EI to lgw. Checked bag £50 return, unbelievable. Baggage charges are becoming a rip off. Are EI trying to price themselves off the route?

Baggage is an horrendous price! However booking family over in the Christmas/New Year week and EI have come up cheaper than anyone else, EZY who are cheapest when its off peak on some dates £150 single. Even BA are cheaper at peak. EI charge extra for baggage at peak time it goes up from 15euro to 25euro each way for 15kg.

Where did you get 50 from. It starts from 24 which to me is very reasonable. On another note any word on why no tues or thurs holiday flights I'm April?

Just excess capacity being taken out to increase yield and match demand better.

Wasn't that a route that they dropped a few years back?

I used to live and work near Liverpool and I can remember BE threatening to leave around the 2005/2006 time and pulling routes, don't remember if they did. Thinking FR drove them out first time.

They stepped into the breach when Ryanair left the route in 2010 ... so, they hadn't stayed for long!

I don't remember them on the route before that.

I think they operated BHD via IOM to LPL in the past.

New route may be convenient for a few pax but can they match EZY on price?

ESCNI - definitely remember them running about 4x daily around the 2005/2006 mark along with a number of other routes like SOU and a number got shifted to MAN.

GAZMO - when I travel to BHX BE are frequently cheaper than EZY, they seem to be starting at about £50 return, about £5 more than EZY lead in fares but they periodically have sales like 20% off which makes them cheaper to BHX and MAN, I've flown to BHX for as little as £39 on one occasion, return.

Extra flights are always a boon. Is that another nite stop A/c or a replacement route for some strategic canxs on other routes?
