Oh any airline would come in if the welsh gvmt agreed to cover losses. Let's get virign in, BA in, the lot, then you'd lose them after 3 years as they'd never work out.

BHX has a direct NYC service but, more often or not, it's cheaper to travel from BHX via AMS/CDG etc. with Delta/KLM/AF etc.

CWL already has a Delta service via AMS, so what if it gets a direct NYC service, it will be too expensive and many will boycott it to fly via AMS to USA with Delta/KLM.

Believe everything you read in the press of course, what a load of billhooks, absolutely no chance and I cannot believe the Welsh Assembly would put money into such a dreamworld idea.

Pipe-dream

What is more galling is that these 'suits' are creaming fat salaries from the WA in support of what is no more than a pipe-dream and something that anyone with any experience in the industry knows will never happen.

This sort of money could be better spent on essential services in the Principality.

I doubt this will be the final edition at all. I would expect an increase on BHD, plus JER not released which will continue for S12. At the moment it all seems a bit muddled. Final edition of the timetable will be due out in the next few weeks.

T3 Eastern

Appears that T3 have added a mid-day rotation of ABZ-NCL-CWL-NCL for the Winter season on a Thursday only. Ops by a JS41. CWL-NCL sector is via BHX with CWL-BHX not bookable. Seems very strange to only add this rotation for one day a week in the winter

Quick cardiff question that passed through my mind this morning. Why does stand 10 smell of 'soiled nappy' so much, even in winter? Every time I pass it makes me wonder if I should bypass the area en route to stand 7.

Serious question.

Article from Manx2 website

Manx2.com has announced significant growth in passengers on the air route between Cardiff and Anglesey. In the last three months, passenger numbers have risen by nearly 30%, and in the same period, there have been no delays on the route with every flight arriving early or on time.
Manx2.com and partner carrier FLM Aviation has been contracted to provide the twice daily weekday intra-Wales air service since May 2010.
Since then, passenger numbers have been steadily increasing and in the last three months, have risen by nearly 30%, with more than 1,000 passengers carried in July alone.
Chairman of Manx2.com Noel Hayes said: ‘The market is growing again as communities at both ends of the route have responded to the reliability, punctuality and time saving offered by the flights and a range of new lower leisure fares, which start from £24.95.
‘The growth in passenger numbers clearly illustrates how important the intra-Wales air service is to communities in the North and South of the country, by maintaining connectivity in these difficult times, and helping contribute to economic growth.’
Dewi Williams, Head of Highways and Waste Management at Isle of Anglesey County Council said: ‘We congratulate Manx2.com on the growth of this service. Having this North – South air link is vital in keeping our country connected and developing the economy of the whole country. The 100% reliability and punctuality in the period has no doubt been a factor in the growth of this route, and we hope the people of Wales will continue to increase their use of this convenient service.’
Manx2.com’s Celtic connections were further strengthened by this summer’s seasonal flights between Anglesey and the Isle of Man, which along with the flights to Cardiff, are the only commercial flights operating from RAF Valley. There were also special flights from Cardiff to the Isle of Man for the duration of the Isle of Man TT festival period, which provedpopular with fans of the world famous event.

Got to keep those Welsh Assemby members mobile, oh! plus a few forces guys travelling at the governments expense. So, all in all, the whole operation, including the pax are subsidised by the taxpayer. Terrific.

I wonder how many of the 1,000+ tickets sold in July were bought by the taxpayer???

Cardiff/Anglesey

Just because you think something is true doesn't make it true. The number of tickets sold to the public sector is a small minority. The majority of tickets are sold to passengers travelling on private sector business.

I agree quite a few of my friends have used the service for a few days away recently. They said it was easy to book a reliable service and a great get away.

I regularly use the Manx2 service to Cardiff as an ordinary fare paying passenger. Whilst I have occasionally seen members of the Assembly Government on board, the vast majority of passengers are people going about their private business and families or individuals travelling to visit relatives etc. The service is excellent and long may it continue.

RUNWAY30,care to back that statement up with some fact?
Having watched the old Jetstream disgorge numerous recognisable AM's off a virtually empty aircraft, I would be more than happy to be shown that this service is entirely a successful commercial operation with no governmental support, which is, of course, what the airport, and indeed Wales, needs.
