Listening to live ATC, word of an 'emergency on the runway' and some planes holding and talking about diverting to Shannon, anyone know what is happening?

According to ET schedule page the Monday flights are also changing to a Sunday. Is this correct?

I have a booking on this service and already have hotels etc booked for a Monday-Monday holiday. Have not received any notification from ET as of yet on the change.

Damn. I really liked the idea of a really late return from LAX so I could go to bed when I got home.

Link contains pics of the new lounge for US passengers, for such a small area down there it looks rather big.

Looks like passengers chose to call it 51st Green

Feb traffic up 17% to over 1.7 million, good growth even when the additional day is excluded.

Aer Lingus

EI adding 2 T/A aircraft in 2017 with routes announced in July. Could be looking at a second USPC facility at 300 gates. At least lots of the work required has already been in place for years.

https://travelextra.wordpress.com/20...march-13-2016/

Speaking to Travel Extra in the margins of the conference, Stephen Kavanagh CEO of Aer Lingus said the airline’s next tranche of trans-Atlantic routes would be announced in July. he said things have gone very well in 2015 and the 2017 routes would be finalised as a business plan is drawn in Q2. He said that they would be working with Dublin Airport on capacity and infrastructure issues as Aer Lingus will have five extra trans-Atlantic aircraft in Q2 2017 versus Q2 2016, putting pressure on the USA departure gates particularly in the 10am to 12pm peak morning period. The use of the 300 gates (toehold Pier B, which used to serve trans-Atlantic before T2) for a wide-bodied aircraft is an option by Dublin Airport, which will host 23 long haul services a day in summer 2016. US CBP has provided extra resources to pre-clear the extra services and Dublin now has a two shift CNP operation for the first time. It has become the first offshore CBP station centralise pre-clearance. Passengers who have been issued with chits at the form-filling station can use automated passport machines before approaching the immigration officer.

I dont think the article implies US pre-cleared services from the 300 gates. I think it implies that other wide-body services, such as the EI sun-flights, YYZ, EK/EY or non-pre-cleared services could depart from the 300s, rather than pre-cleared US services.
If push really came to shove passengers could be pre-cleared in the current CBP area and bussed to aircraft on remote stands, perhaps?

Even if CBP were willing, it's hard to imagine pier 3 being used. It was never set up for customs preclearance, which requires a lot more space than was needed for immigration preclearance. The cost of reconfiguring to simply satisfy extra peak season demand would never justify it.

It's much more likely that other T2 flights would be moved over to pier 3, or a few pier 3 arrivals towed to pier 4 for departure.

Brain you may be right

YYZ was moved to T1 last summer, EY are out by 09.30 and EK at 13.50 both stands cannot be used for pre clearance even if pier was closed.

EI will need to send out two of the five aircraft between 10.00-12.00 and thats 650 passengers, lot of extra work for staff to process. Im not sure stands are sole issue but perhaps the space for clearing them.

Blaggerman

Daa make a good profit per passenger and that peak demand is a full 6 months so if denand is there then I think its justified.

Any guesses at the routes? Will we finally see a Dallas or Miami route now that AA can provide connections?

DFW and MIA seem like obvious choices for AA connections.

On a related note, do people think BA will move to Terminal 2 to share ground-handling and lounges etc?

it would seem logical and you would expect BA mainline and cityflyer to all operate from the same terminal, lets hope they do the logical thing!

Any more news on the A380 coming this year ?

Hopefully the new routes are DFW MIA and LAS .

Was just wondering why don't icelandair come here more often instead of the odd Sunday ? Even before WOW air came they've been really quiet. You would think there'll be enough capacity for a 3-4 weekly service ?
