CTC SIGNS AN EXCLUSIVE LONG TERM CONTRACT WITH OPENSKIES FOR AIRCREW TRAINING AND SUPPLY

The global airline training provider CTC Aviation Group plc has signed a long term exclusive training contract with OpenSkies - the British Airways subsidiary - to provide high quality, cost effective aircrew training solutions.

At a ceremony held on 3 October 2008 at CTC’s Crew Training Centre - Nursling, CTC’s Chief Executive Officer Captain Rob Clarke and Openskies’ Flight Operations Director Captain Robin Glover signed an agreement encompassing the selection, training and supply of flight crew and cabin crew.
Captain Clarke said "we are very pleased to be announcing our partnership with Openskies and look forward with enthusiasm to helping them grow their business. The recent integration of OpenSkies and L’Avion clearly demonstrates the exciting plans that OpenSkies has for expanding across Europe.

CTC is well-placed to meet the challenges of providing training for aircrew regardless of where they are based and with both our companies sharing the same passion for quality and innovation, a successful relationship is assured.”

Captain Robin Glover said “we look forward to working with CTC and believe that their proven experience in helping new start airlines will be invaluable to us. CTC is a ‘one stop shop’ where we can get all of our aircrew solutions. Additionally, CTC’s flexibility, innovative thinking and commitment to quality and excellence fit our requirements perfectly”.

Captain Clarke added that “the signing of such a substantial long term contract in these turbulent times for the industry is further evidence of the benefits of outsourcing. Airlines increasingly want to keep their cost base as low and flexible as possible and we anticipate an acceleration of this trend into the near future”.
Interesting that it is regarded as a "new start airline" that requires CTC's "expertise". Doesn't BA have the required "expertise" in-house?

I believe a number of the CTC people are ex BA. The enterprise seems more doomed every day but there is a lot more money and resources to be used yet.

A idea

In the light of the news that BMI are to cease their long haul services from MAN in the next few months - How about this operator serving MAN - There's a demand for F/J class from Manchester to say ORD or IAD etc.

From what i understand, BA gave an undertaking in court that OS wouldn't operate out of UK airports.

Maybe this undertaking does not apply to a French Registered company,??hence the French AOC & the new training setup and other moves to distance themselves from BA.

Some of the plane spotters on here have memories like bloody goldfish!

Regional flying in BA B757s from BHX-JFK-YYZ and GLA-JFK-BOS have already BEEN tried in two class configs.
Was it A :
perfect size to op MAN-JFK or even a few LGW-US flights me thinks..
OR

B Avoided by a lot of BA Exec Club card holders who routed over LHR for the mileage and to fly on a bigger aircraft?

The clue is, it lost shed loads of cash and was abandoned.Those who fail to even remember the errors of history are doomed to repeat them.

Correct. Whether or not it's on a French AOC, it's still a BA subsidiary so the undertaking still applies.

Perhaps the 'code' is EC?

PS: Don't think anyone said OS was a 'code'. But it definitely is a perfectly reasonable abbreviation!

No it bloody isn't. Anyone with an informed opinion would know that OS is Austrian Airlines. Stop being sloppy and lazy. Google "Open Skies IATA code" and less of the crap I see a lot of below.

AL = Air Lingus
BM = British Midland
FGS = Flyglobespan

I'll have a consonant please Carol......

10/10 if you spot the deliberate error on my part

They don't and nobody cares.
This is a thread about OpenSkies, and it is quite clear which airline is the subject of discussion.

I guess someone didn´t do his/her homework regarding yhe opening of the AMS/JFK flights.

I wonder how long will it take to close this route and how much money will be burned until someone realize this fiasco and stops it.

Does anybody knows what is AF/KLM is doing in reaction to the ORY/JFK flights?

I guess someone didn´t do his/her homework regarding yhe opening of the AMS/JFK flights.
As I have said in an earlier post, nobody around here in has even heard of OS.
Now if you're selling low budget tickets, your name will pop up at the top of the list if customers are using internet search engines (like CheapTickets.nl), however for premium products you really need branding and marketing. Haven't seen any of that...
