How much longer is the 757 set to appear in the Thomson fleet? Many of them must be getting pretty old now.

Does the long term fleet mix comprise just the 737 & 787?

Well G-BYAW is staying until 2018 so it will be then or later on than that

Long term is only 737 & 787 but they are getting the new 737-900 into the fleet

Will the 73's not struggle on their longer routes such as MAN - BVC? I know that they can just about do it in good conditions, but when they occasionally use 73's on that route and even on the LGW - BVC route it is not uncommon for them to refuel enroute if the wind isn't favourable.

I'd imagine the MAX's on order will cope better than the current NG's range wise. However they might struggle on some of the shorter Greek runways the 752's can fly direct to the UK from.

hi FRatstn

maybe yours are OK at lower weights but i was referring to Thomson at higher landing weights

my pal is a skip on 757/767 at BRS and they know under certain conditions they will likely have to divert when they change the fleet there - have you heard this too?
the 757 can stop on sixpence

When the 757 and the short haul 767's eventually go, they'll have a capacity issue on high density routes with just the 737. I'm presuming the 787 will stick to long haul?

So, to provide the capacity on popular routes, they'll need to increase frequencies with 737's; how many more 737's are joining the fleet?

Your logic is quite correct . However, the tour operator makes the decisions , not the airline. Thomson Airways provides the lift capacity for the tour operator and does as it's told . It's all about yield, not volume. The total number of aircraft is not planned to expand in the near future!

Having flown the tom 738 into brs on a wet windy day it stopped well, it has better performance than most give credit for. The 75 drivers have only heard the horror stories and not what good the 738 can do.

They will both be operated by twin engined boeings!

Can we not have a separate thread somewhere for these sorts of requests, so they can be replied to more quickly and not end up filling up the existing airline threads?

I did the tom4408 a few weeks ago on a 75 but I couldn't say that it still will be a 75.

several of the 757 are due to be in the fleet until 2020, but they'll only be 17-18 years old at that point......

G-TAWS has completed it's first flight 13/03/14, expected delivery soon (LTN). Also, does anybody know when the leased 738's that are with SWG are starting to return?
