CC I know that it can affect the timings of the flights as the season progresses (or am I thinking historically?), and yes as you can book seat only I can't really see the difference. I guess for scheduled you must be able to book seat only from both ends.

I suppose to all intents and purposes it doesn't matter. Unless anyone else knows differently.

Question G-OOBL

Hi, I have been reading on various forums that Thomson are supposed to be putting their FC 767's WFU in July.
We fly Man-LCA 17th August for 2 weeks and selected our seats yesterday.
The layout given is for the 767-V2 which appears to be one of the FC aircraft.
Are they likely to withdraw this as I've read, if so, any idea what will replace this flight?
Many thanks

2-3-2 configuration with premium taking up all the front cabin?
My son thinks it will be GOOBL, but as I say, I'm reading conflicting remarks as to whether it will be withdrawn in the next month or so.

Yep that's the one!!

I am very confused too as I read that it was leaving when the next batch of 787s arrive!

Maybe they have decided to keep the 767 in the fleet for the summer season and operate it on shorter flights with the newly delivered 787s taking over it's long haul runs.

Don't they all show as Thomson 767s? First Choice aren't an airline.

There's something very odd/nerdy about folk who on this and other similar airline threads want to know whether their annual trip to Benidorm is going to be on a plane with this set of winglets or another; whether it's a Boeing or an Airbus; and A321 or a 757 etc etc. Does it matter?
On short haul bucket and spade routes, the differences are indistinguishable. Just grin and bear it, you're going on your holiday after all. Long haul - yes - I get it, the right plane and creature comforts can make a real difference.

But short haul?.....unless you are a plane spotter when I guess you can brag to your mates that you flew on something with 'sharklets' - like it made the slightest difference to your on board experience.
Truly bizarre.

Yes you are quite right, let's close all these sites down tell people to get on with their lives. Pathetic some folk are.

I'm flying next week to Sicily on a Thomson 757 with the new paint job. It's got those extensions on the wing as well and Rolls Royce engines. Last weeks flight went over my house, I followed it on Flight Radar, I could see the blue paint and the red TUI on the tail through my binoculars.

Yeah some people still prefer different A/C types, or some of us nutters like to fly on typed that might be being retired soon. And actually I think it would be nice to get a long haul configured 767 on a short haul route.

Suppose I can see the "regulars" point of view that get frustrated with people asking about what aircraft type they will be flying on when they go on holiday (especially this time of year). Do sometimes see there's been a post on certain airlines/airports threads that I haven't read and when I see it's "I'm going to XYZ on 11th of never, does anyone know what plane I'll be on" *sigh*

For me anyway, it's a big part of the holiday is the flight, buying an over priced alcoholic beverage and standing in the WHSmiths queue when your flight is on final call.. It's nice that people are interested though and the hobby is still thriving.

Seeing as this is the Thomson thread. Two firsts on Sunday 1) trying out the baron land of DSA 2) flying on an -800 that doesn't have an EI- reg and a Lady/Harp on the tail. Looking forward to hopefully a decent Thomson experience.

Back under my rock I go!

I've mentioned this before but would it be worth setting up a sort of 'master thread' in passengers and slf for these 'what aircraft type...' requests?

Thank you to those that kindly replied.
I did read the terms and conditions when I joined and also read several
Different threads/posts from people genuinely asking similar questions to mine to people who have a vast knowledge they don't mind sharing with others.
I sort of wish I hadn't asked now reading some of the other replies.
I didn't ask what plane I was going on, I know that already. I was just asking if anyone knew if it was being withdrawn from service.
There wasn't really a need to lash out with such sarcasm, I'm far from pathetic but you are obviously entitled to an opinion.
I thought this forum was for anything airline based.

Thanks again.

Aberdeen 2015

I read online recently that tui are increasing capacity at Aberdeen airport for 2015 with flights every day. On the thomson website these are now for sale however no flight number. Is it likely that thomson will base one of their own aircraft in Aberdeen for summer 2015?

G-TUIE

G-TUIE had its first flight yesterday from Everett/Paine Airport. Interesting how it hasn't been painted yet, but sister G-TUIF has been painted ready. Looks all set for on time July delivery.

The reason will be that some are painted away from Everett.

well from the info I have G-OOBL is due to leave the fleet in Nov 14, and G-OOBM is due to leave the fleet in May 2015.

So 2 startfish painted B763 remain in the fleet for summer 14 and one for winter 14/15 with B787 deliveries in Jan 2015 (G-TUIG) and May 2015 (G-TUIH)

If it's July delivery on the next 787 when do you think it will see service?

I'm booked on a 787 mid August from EMA-SFB, it changes fron a 767 a couple of weeks earlier.

Would be nice to fly on a brand new bird!

Think you've asked similar before. The plans for bases are not available yet, just as they are not for Thomas Cook. Don't think there are any new 737's left from the current batch until the MAX order starts to come, and no, I don't think anyone on here knows the exact delivery date and 757/767/737 swap/retirement/replacement
