While they are at it they should also dig deeper in Saudi Arabian Airlines ability to properly oversee it's day to day operations. With Phuket Airlines running amuck there it seems no one is at the wheel.

The NTSB is considering taking over the crash investigation AND altering the findings . . .
Filing a lawsuit in the United States for damages has jurisdictional constraints, because the only thing "American" is the airplane. And the MD80 has had a proven track record for many decades. So, unless the plaintiffs can identify a "design flaw" of the airplane which directly contributed to this accident, then the law suit will have no merit. US courts have no jurisdiction of foreign registerd airplanes crashing in foreign lands, nor do they have jurisdiction of foreign airlines that do not overfly U.S. airspace and do not carry passengers or cargo into the U. S.

Let me try saying it this way: The NTSB is considering publishing their own report into the cause of the crash and is considering altering their initial findings of cause from "flight crew error" to something identifying the systemic failures in the airline and the country's oversight leading to foreseeable flight crew error.
BTW, the NTSB is writing the first draft of the full investigation report for the DCA. Whether the DCA ever publishes that report or calls it complete seems unlikely based a lack of completed report for any major incident in Thailand in the last 10 years. (I haven't looked back further than 10 years.)

- The AOC for One-Two-Go is pulled effective Monday. Three very different sources tell me so. If OTG doesn't cease flying on Monday, then some other $deal will have been negotiated.
- The UN contract is gone. The head of procurement at the UN tells us to they took "appropriate" action.
- Orient Thai/One-Two-Go/Kampuchia/GrandMax's insurance company have plenty of evidence of wanton and reckless endangerment by the company. We provided the information to them. We recorded them reading the information.
- The NTSB is considering taking over the crash investigation AND altering the findings of cause to include deep systemic issues at Orient Thai and the DCA We requested they do so. They assured us they are looking into it.
- Criminal charges against certain Orient Thai personnel in the US are being investigated. We are doing this now.
- The FAA will soon be returning to Thailand for a final examination of the DCA to consider revising or de-listing all Thai airlines rights in the US. The FAA responded to our request with a letter (and phone calls) stating their intention to return to Thailand to complete their IASA review in the "near future".

Udom is such a snake....I don't often comment on these things, but posing to the Thai and International public as an "overhaul" to their system is a straight out "smoke & mirrors" tactic to reassure the public that there is nothing wrong with what they are doing, with reference to the accusations being made against them....there are many of us that know better!!!

Message to the Thai press!
One-Two-Go has been grounded due to public pressure over the lack of credible training records. Since is there is no difference in operations or management between Orient Thai and One-Two-Go, how is it possible for Orient Thai to be safe for flight?

PPRuNe and Thai Visa forums are at opposite ends of the respectability spectrum.
TV is essentially a place for ( and male only, please ) sex tourists that are managing to cling to residency by jumping through immigration hoops.
A specific thread on this subject, "1-2 Go culpability" was deleted within 3 hours. Investigate Udom has been banned permantly

Letters to the Editor of The Nation and Bangkok Post are never printed though many, many of my other letters on other subjects are.

FWIW, I believe there is a behind the scenes battle being waged.
If you look at this article from the Bangkok Post, you can compare the honest statements from a "transport ministry source" such as the cause was pilot error and had nothing to do with the aircraft and little to do with windsheer (completely matching our blackbox transcript) to the obfuscating statements from Mr. Vuthichai such as problems with the weather and the aircraft could not be ruled out.

Low-cost carrier One-Two-Go will suspend its operations from July 22 to September 15, making it the first airline victim of record oil prices.
Founder and CEO Udom Tatiprosongchai said the unrelenting rise in oil prices had forced the airline to shut down temporarily.
During this period there will be a reorganisation to prepare for a return to business.
"The company has been losing money for months, and we cannot continue like this," said Udom, adding that One-Two-Go would resume operations when the situation improved.
Two of its rival, Thai AirAsia and Nok Air, are still in service but facing the same cost pressure.
Both have revised their business strategies and rescheduled some routes.
Udom said One Two Go had been operating based on actual costs while other players had different strategies. In a statement, One Two Go said high oil prices were hurting the global airline industry.
Airlines world-wide have cut 30 per cent of their flights and raised surcharges to stay in business.
One Two Go was the country's first low-cost airline, starting its service in December 2003 with a Bangkok-Chiang Mai flight.
It ran into trouble when one of its planes crashed in Phuket, killing 90 passengers. Rumours abounded that it could face regulatory problems due to its safety record.
Udom declined to comment on this issue.
Relatives of the victims in the Phuket crash have started a web-site, www. investigateudom.com, to campaign for an investigation into Udom's business conduct.
It was alleged that Udom had misled pilots into flying unsafe planes and paid bonuses for those who worked beyond the legal maximum of flying hours.
Chaisak Angkasuwan, director-general of the Civil Aviation Department, could not be reached for comment yesterday.
