The rolling year to July figures for NCL show 8.3% fewer movements and 6.4% fewer passengers.

What EMA DOES need to sort out is its terrible ramp layout and need for pax the be held in gates while a flight at a neighbouring stand unloads and pax walk in front of the terminal windows to the arrivals door.
I would suggest the airport spends less time trying to attract awards for its bus services
Yeah, they've withdrawn the bus from our village after 7pm despite petitions for them not to. Is it my imagination or has the presence of Customs totally gone from the arrivals hall?

Well alright I'll hold my hand up there and admit I got that wrong!! 
Facts and figures bore me to tears and I knew as soon as I hit the 'submit reply' that there would be someone on afterwards spouting a load of numbers!! If I was that keen on punching numbers all day, I'd be in the office counting beans instead of flying bits of metal about!
Still, my main point was to re-affirm egnxema's point that a little investment and some good managemt could greatly improve the appeal of EMA and was just trying to use NCL as an example!!

I would suggest the airport spends less time trying to attract awards for its bus services
and be seen to be green........
Windfarm on the airport could be located at sea to offset energy costs, but of course that wouldn't be "seen" as being green.......
They then had to chop down loads of trees that were effecting the airflow pattern over the area it is supposed to be going to go in apparently, still they could use that in the woodburning heating they are planning to put in the terminal, that is so old badly thought out and innefficent it would be greener to demolish it and start a new..
Top that off with the place having more potholes than the Yorkshire Dales, the Germans would have given the place a miss during the war as it would have simply leveled off some of the roads after bombing it.
I still cannot figure out why when they did get round to adding the extension to the apron to the left of the tower why they never levelled it instead of introducing steps in the apron levels..... that just reduces the usable area, perhaps they were looking at planting tea.....

Flights to ABZ 0523 cov man - not the best schedule though. Looking to the future, and being optimistic - could BE give the airport the hub service it so badly needs with a AF code share to CDG?

Nutloose, I suspect the reason for the step between the aprons was that the alternative would have been a step between the new apron and the taxiway, which would have been a bit tricky to climb in a 737.

Unfortunately The fat controller and the MAG muppets made sure that anyone who would stand up to them left. JS and GK knew their business and were aviation people then we got someone from ASDA! LH were being talked to, money was going to be spent on a new terminal ( less then was spent on BOH) and ... and ...and...! EMA will never develop until MAG sell it and someone comes in with ambition. EMA people are excellent if only they were let loose.

whats happening about the runway extension, is it going ahead and when starting. Seeing how ema has been aplying for planing permition for nine years and then been granted it theyve done nothing :s Good news to see flybe comnecing services from ema hopefully introduce more routes, anyone know what aircraft they are using on the route?

Nice to see a larger turboprop aircraft into ema instead of the easternairways and manx2 flights 
the new md is starting in october and says "m obviously very proud to have been chosen as the new MD and I'm looking to grow our market share at East Midlands; obviously there's competition from the likes of Robin Hood Airport and Birmingham but I hope to bring new ideas to the fore and ensure we grow the 4.5m passenger base we flew to their destinations last year.
"There's much to work on at East Midlands in the freight community and with the recent announcement of a new Radisson Hotel on site and I'm keen to get started as soon as possible." sounds alot more intersted than penny and sounds like hes going to do something with the airport finaly any news on the runway extension yet?

anyone know why so many ryanair flights have been canceld for tomorow im sure there was quaite a few last week aswell? Also i hear a rumor flybe will be flying to aberdeen, true or false?

The flybe Aberdeen flights are via BHD and are only possible on certain days of the week. Even with their higher price structure, I don't think Eastern will be too concerned about this "competition" on the route?

After many months of decreasing passenger numbers, the airport's management will be relieved to see August's provisional figures total 553,099 an increase of 2.2% on '09.
