Gib Aircraft types

The usual types it can take, fully loaded ,are and have been, A320, 737-300 types and 757, and most things smaller.Whilst the A321 is too big unless on a restricted load. Military wise, everything they have, apart from VC10 and Tristar.

Hercules and C17 make interesting sights coming and going there

The new terminal for departures I have heard opens this week. It is going to be opened by the Earl of Wessex, Prince Edward.

Tornado`s

Dont think they publish too much in advance, although the RG Police are kept up to date...That way it keep Pedro on his toes across the border . They are there for a month although you will hear them long before you see them

Will be there on Thursday and our apartment overlooks the runway, so will post if I find anything out.

What do you reckon the chances are of the new terminal being completely open by the end of this month?

Gib Terminal opening

Just arrived back via Gib today and made some enquiries whilst waiting for check in to open..Apparantly the departures have been completed in the new terminal as has all staff training and they are ready to go but have to wait until the Gib Government give the ok. However they seem very relutant to do so. It appears The Chief Minister Picardo is playing politics with his opposite number and delaying the opening making it look like the last lot cocked up more than they did...usual children at play stuff

So it really is anyones guess, but there is no good reason for departures still to be through the miserable rat hole it has now become. Most of the shops after security are empty and the one before looks like it has just been ransacked. The staff seem demoralised although the handling of speedy boarders and special assistance groups was spot on as they seem to have a new supervisor on ground ops who knows exactly what he is doing..

Another excellent flight with EZY but delayed due to RAF Tornadoes still doing their stuff down there, causing havoc with the schedules, but loved by the locals

Ummm..not quite "loved by the locals" - tolerated perhaps more relevant.

Hey Gib is not Gib without the politics - you get to live with it!

Know what you mean, but maybe `liked at bit`this time as they feel under more than usual pressure by Spain and their presence is annoying the Spanish in return...as to politics well yes your very right

Well although LPL and EMA are ending this winter there is now at least some good news, this time with BA:

Taken from website:
From 28 October 2012 flights from Heathrow Terminal 3 to Gibraltar will increase from seven to nine flights per week. The additional services will operate on Saturdays and Sundays.
Heard also now September for new terminal opening for Deaprtures. Also waiting for the news about who is doing EMA for Summer 2013.

September...excellent but do they know which year yet

I read in the Gib Chronicle about a month back, that the Tourism Minister had announced Monarch were starting their service from EMA to replace Baby but dates etc would be announced by Monarch in `due course`.....so another wait I fear..

Also e mailed Easy to see if they were going to have a summer 2013 route LPL - GIB but at the moment seems not...we shall see
