dumdumbrain,

Thanks for that mate - you just made me laugh which brightened a rainy afternoon.

Surely east is east which ever way you are standing looking at it, even on your head while doing the splits.

You say you work for FR? Please don't tell us you actually drive those plane thinggies for them!?

If Ryanair enters the Belfast market, I wonder what the bmibaby reaction will be? Whether the airline will try to maintain a very long standing service, or if the reaction will be the same to Ryanair's arrival on flights to France, Dublin and Barcelona? My understanding was that BHD's runway is even shorter than LDY which Ryanair operates with payload restrictions. BHD's curfew, high landing charges and limited capacity would surely also make the airport less positive in MOL's eyes?

my point is that LDY has to do with such low pax numbers, and belfast is a good change from derr, about the same flight time. Anyone else got an idea where the a/c could be used?

I will ask at work when im next in.........

dumdumbrain,
I publically apologize if my last comment came over as bitchy. I did not write it with that intent. Just a bit of leg pulling. Sorry buddy.

Well basically Ryanair want to place 11 a/c at EMA within a year, but the problem is no more stands that are cheap, by that i mean stands where you dont have bus pax to customs.

I have been told that Ryanair will use the new peir, if it can be made so that pax are not bussed, as this costs too much, and the time factor for quick turn arounds.

To be honest I dont think this is something that EMA can afford to miss out on.

Be nice to have a Icelander air a/c in that isn't full of fish in at EMA lol

On the note of routes, expect ALC, PMI, HHN, extra flight to DUB per day, TFS, REU, SVQ, and maybe ABZ and PIK

Pier is OK outbound but no way to link to arrivals, only way to get more stands able to walk to/from A/C would be to build new terminal south of the pier with its own arrivals hall-not something that is going to happen overnight- unless an arrivals hall was added to the pier somehow?- you could make more of the terminal stands available but that means pushing other operators out and not all are B737/800 sized-not sure that 5/6/7 are for instance, at least not without checking the books! and if you re-mark to get bigger stands then you lose capacity, not good when trying to find room for another potential 6 plus A/C if that rumour is true

Very tight fit for an -800 on 4L have also seen -800 on 7. Not yet seen -800 on 5, largest is 737-400. Even if you could fit an -800 on all stands you still need to bus the outbound pax. Inbound pax could walk but only seen that happen handful of times due to the amount of staff needed to guide the pax. I can't see Servisair providing extra staff to marshal the inbound pax all the time!

Sorry if this is a bit spotter ish but on when I was driving home from worl on Tues 19th I was overflown by a 4 prop aircraft. It was 17.17 and I was driving down the Ashby bypass. Can anyone tell me what this aircraft was as it sounded great. Four long trails of smoke following it too

I did the same thing on wednesday, four flgihts in one day quite tiring by the last one. I also heard music if your reffering to the loud horn sound that they play announcing the ontime arrival, made all the plane laugh

Has the GLA news had any operational impact at EMA this evening? Some flights diverted from LPL?

Easyjet has filed an application with the German slot-coordinator for five weekly (Mo-Fr) evening flights from Munich to East Midlands. Flight numbers U2 6577/8 with effect 29OCT07.

Well I wasn't expecting that to happen, when I last spoke to crew at sleazyJet I was told it was happy with its routes and no new routes. Or well I do hope it works out for them.

Looks like EMA will serve three German cities later this year

Well, slot applications do not mean much.

However, as you may remember, I also reported Easyjet's slot application for MUC-EDI - which indeed resulted in a new route. All in all, I would take slot application always take with some caution.

By the way, Easyjet has also filed slots for LYS-MUC, which might tell us something.
