Gerona

I have not gone through the whole EMA timetable but in October the Gerona is showing as 13.40 in and out 14.05 on Tuesday, Thursday & Saturday in other words a Spanish based aircraft rather than EMA.

The other days it is 06.00 ish out 11.15 in.

Rimini is a very seasonal market, I don't see the benefit of it staying, or at least at the frequencies they're on at the moment, during the winter season. Obviously the announcement on Thursday was not the two extra based aircraft that were predicted by some, but it means two exciting new capital cities now linked with EMA, and maybe some manouvering room for bmibaby to review the route network and schedule for this winter.

Flybe Misery

Can anyone advise whether they know of a future route coming available from EMA to Milan Malpensa? I had been using BA Con out of BHX for a few years and recently used Flybe for the first time. To cut a long story short I won't be using that carrier for a while. I live in between EMA and BHX and want to avoid LHR like the plague.

Hi DirtyDitch

Really cannot see any carrier offering Milan Malpensa from EMA due to FR flying to Bergamo.

If Flybe are not your favourite at the moment then why not try FR - After all Bergamo is roughly the same distance from Milan than Malpensa is.

thank you for your comments. unfortunately I fly into Malpensa due to the fact that the people I visit are right on the doorstep of the airport. Bergamo would be too far.

LHR it seems then!

Fantastic news about the Scandinavian routes. I always have to drive to Newcastle to get the ferry when I go, this is much easier.

Sterling to ARN, OSL & CPH...Wow - Didn't see that coming!!

Fantastic news for EMA - At last, THREE Scandinavian destinations.

Got this sneeky feeling that FR won't be too happy though and may decide to retaliate

Great news. Press release available on airlines website, which ends .dk not .com

Good fares too.

The route development team have done really well with this. At LHR the scandinavian weekenders are very big spenders.

parking at ema

£44.00 is expensive!!

The airports own website always has the cheapest deals. I have just booked now for 7 days in August at £29.25 and in the car park next to the terminal. you get a cheaper rate for booking well in advance.

Even next week its only £36.00....remember alot of the web parking companies are off site at Castle Donington.

Have any of you considered using the public transport links the airport offers? I've used the airline shuttle for years, going back to when the service was the 757, and there has been huge improvements thanks to airport funding such as new buses, better frequencies and extended hours. It saves a lot of cost and drops you right outside the terminal building. I've heard the airport is increasing their funding for public transport again this year, we've already seen the launch of the hourly skylink leicester which is apparently doing well, and more is to be expected.

Menzies seem to be going from strength to strength since they've got the easyJet contract, with only a few delays attributable to the company. I'm rarely in the departure lounge except to go to our crew room, so have no idea how they're handling check in or boarding, but they're really ramping up their presence.

With regards to the comment that Scandinavia is a market that baby should have been in, add to that almost any city that other airlines are launching from EMA. baby had the potential to be an upper crust version of Ryanair, flying to major cities on at least a daily basis, offering assigned seats and diamond club benefits. Whilst it's still possible, other airlines are really running rings around baby, with the massive tech aircraft delays not helping.
