No ! you've got it all wrong, it's not anywhere near version 87 at all, It's "Plan B" !
Oh, and he indicated there’s yet another master plan for MME (must be up to at least version 87 by now) to be unveiled early in the New Year, this one covering the next 25 years. If management continue to run things as they’ve done for the last two or three years, we’ll be lucky to see it still functioning as an airport in 25 months. But perhaps that’s what the new master plan is ?

Just heard that the airport is closing for Christmas. Is this the thin end of the wedge? Possibly closing all Bank Holidays and Sundays will come next.
Very miffed about it. How will my presents get here with secrecy clause and his loco ?.

The airport closes every Christmas Day, so nothing new there. You'll find that a number of airports are closed on Christmas Day. Are they going to be closing on Bank Holidays as well???

My mistake, they were open for the one flight to come in and out then it's closed. You'd be lucky if the basic staff are in for 3-4 hours just to cover the one flight. If the Thomson is coming then there's no point in opening up!!
Dtv-2009
Well the end of yet another forgettable year for DTV.
What do we anticipate for 2009? Not much expansion it would seem and probably a fight to keep what we have?
I see the forecast that Northern Aviation are getting a Citation is correct, unfortunately its moved up the road to Newcastle along with a Cessna 421? Hope we can hold on to the Beech 200's.
Will FRA complete the year?
Will BMI complete the year?
Does anyone have the latest passenger figures ?
Lots of questions,sorry no answers!!

Arent Northern Aviation moving their whole operation up to Newcastle?
I had heard that their Citation is now up here!!
Sounds like 2009 could be a very difficult year for DTV. At least you will be making a bit of ££££ from the mail operating back in to DTV whilst the runway is closed at Newcastle. Other than that, hard times ahead

Northern only own one Beech 200. The other is operated on their AOC. The 421 no longer belongs to them, so perhaps the Citation if it does exist will possibly only be on Northern's AOC.
I see a couple of Northern's Ce 152s have gone somewhere along with the Pa28. Parked somewhere cheap?
As for mail flights, last time the tarmac was replaced at NCL the post office drivers loved it as they didn't have to drive so far from the main sorting office. Isn't it in Darlington or Bishop Auckland??
No sign of Parmo's prophecy either.
Off to watch Boro thrash Man U on TV!

New rumour
Just heard in the pub tonight that new management team at MME is being formed. The new Airline operations director is to be someone called Southgate who has vast experience in managing crap.
Secrecy clause obviously thought I was a very good boy this year (unlike the moderators ) because he brought me huge amounts of presents.

First time i have flown out of and into DTV for 3 years.
Xmas Eve to LHR. DTV was spotlessly clean and all the staff were very helpful including the security peeps. Overall a very nice experience, but at 13-45hrs on Xmas Eve it was very quiet and LHR also appeared to be very quiet. on arrival.
I do wish DTV a properous new year, because it is a great asset to the North East of England. Also BMI excellant as usual.

Vital link to the future
From today's Northern Echo:
9:28am Wednesday 31st December 2008
DURHAM Tees Valley Airport is one of the UK’s smaller airports but its strategic significance to the region should not be underestimated.
An international airport – even one of modest size – is vitally important to businesses in Teesside and South Durham.
Ten years ago, One NorthEast provoked outrage when it dared suggest Newcastle became the east of Pennines passenger hub, while Teesside – as it was then – concentrated on freight.
The development agency’s draft transport strategy was hastily withdrawn and since then no one has dared to suggest anything less than a level playing field for both airports.
Peel Holdings, the majority shareholder in Durham Tees Valley (DTV), has played its part.
The company already had a proven track record in regional airport redevelopment when it took over operations at Teesside in 2000.
Phase one of a £56m redevelopment, including a much improved terminal, has already been completed and the airfield lighting has been replaced.
A second planning application has also been approved for a business park, hotel, pub and restaurant.
But predictions by former managing director Hugh Lang that DTV would be as big as Newcastle by 2015 look hopelessly optimistic now.
DTV has suffered a series of setbacks since 2006. Bmibaby is long gone, while both Ryanair and Thompson have reduced flights. Now flyglobespan is reviewing its operations. In the face of a global recession, who would bet against the airline walking away?
If it does, we trust the decision will not shake Peel’s confidence in DTV’s future.
First-class air transport links are an essential factor for successful inward investment. A thriving Durham Tees Valley Airport would be a major lure for new investors, with the prosperity they could bring to our region.

DTV is a great place
During my all to short time with baby at MME, it was great, you could get off the aircraft, walk to the crew room, fax the paper work and be in the car in side 6 minutes, its was even quicker for the skippers and meant they could get the beers in at the pub by the roundabout, who used to stay open if they knew we were inbound!!
Now that is what i call service.............................
Sadly the only thing DTV lacks is pax and aircraft
Happy new Year to all ex babes

Airline will review flights from airport in new year
BUDGET airline flyglobespan will decide next month whether to continue services from Durham Tees Valley Airport (DTVA).
The company’s chief executive, Rick Green, said a review of its operations would be completed early in the new year. A decision is being made because the aircraft based at the airport is approaching the end of its lease.
The airline, which started flying from DTVA in March last year, has flights available next month to Alicante, Benidorm and Tenerife. But Mr Green could not guarantee that the airline would continue operating from DTVA beyond the new year.
He said: “Under normal circumstances, we would have the summer’s itinerary finalised by now. The reason we are still deciding it is that the plane flying from Durham Tees Valley reaches its end of lease life in February. For us, we make the decision on the economics of a new plane, the market and demand, as we know the world is in financial meltdown. However, we see a reasonable demand from Durham Tees Valley. The situation is under ongoing review and we will conclude our findings by January 10. Then we will decide either we can source an alternative aircraft or we can’t.”
Mr Green said that part of the review was whether to continue from DTVA, but with fewer flights. He added: “We are in continuous discussions with Durham Tees Valley, they are our first port of call with dialogue.”
Robin Tudor, spokesman for Peel Airports, which operates DTVA, said: “Flyglobespan have had a good association with the airport and we are very keen they continue business through the airport. It is a commercial decision only they can make and we are giving them every encouragement. It is a difficult climate for everybody involved in aviation but we are very optimistic about the airport’s future.”
