Explanation required??

PAARMO....."Nonetheless I think that things may be looking up at last"

Looking forward to seeing some genuine examples of this???

Seems to me we are still just drifting along in the third division of regional airports !

Paarmo, what do you mean the airport is advertising heavily on local TV? Is there a new advert out or are they sponsoring the weather or something?

Last nights 6pm(ish) flight and todays 12noon flight were operated by wot looked like an A319. Does thatmean they are selling more seats?

For the new summer timetables, bmi are using mostly A319s/A320s, with the odd E145 on a weekend. There's also a second daily rotation on a Saturday, which is good because the last few summers it's only been daily on a Saturday.

Whether the route is doing any better or not remains to be seen.

Good news all the way.. new investment announced, adverts on TV and Radio and the Globespan throw a spanner in the works. Instead of just the usual 3/4 hour delays they organise a real stonker with 28 1/2 hours delay from Malaga.
I could have driven back in a white van in that time.
Not the airport's fault but it suffers the backlash.

Is the squaddie flight a regular occurance at MME on a Thursday, or just a few one offs? My mates have come through MME on a Thursday morning regularly and saw the Omni Air International with troops and cargo boarding. I came through this morning and saw some squaddies in departures. I was quite dissapointed not to see a DC10 parked up when I arrived. Does the a/c normally take off around the same time or does it change?

The DC-10s used to run for 4 days once you counted the inbound and outbound rotation. Things have changed slightly this week as there were 3 DC-10s in on Monday. For some reason it was cancelled today Thursday.

The Omni also came in on sunday 30th march around 1130ish. Listened to it on Durham Radar while doing a lesson with Ken in G-BMJC C152 Once we landed saw it parked up at Stand 1?

No; but is it particularly sensible from a security point of view to be posting details of what are effectively military movements on a public website?

Yes I suppose you could always land them at night without lights. That would hide them a little bit. Mind you sound travels a bit more at night so this could be a problem.

They appear on flight tracking websites so why not
Though we should of course be careful about how much detail we post on these flights.

I`ll take that as a no then........I asked my question AFTER the aircraft had gone...I think that even the dimmest of the dim might be able to work out whats what, after all how many wide bodied American jets come into Teeside?? and if you check the operators website they admit who they work for...

Troop Flights

I am amazed by the ambivalence of the British Public in acknowledging that Teesside Airport is one of if not the foremost landing ground of the British Armed Forces from and to the Middle East conflicts. A local MP of Indian sub Continental extraction recently asked whether it was safe to allow British Forces personel to use the airport and his "quisling" comment was endorsed by another local MP. Why should our brave and determined men and women have to sneak into their own country whilst these overpaid and under employed MP's use the Media to enrich the sound of their own voices and undermine the vital role that the Armed Forces play in the defence of this Country.
Omni Air ,although US owned, is one of the largest users of this British Airport and I for one am not in any way embarrassed by the large number of Trooping Flights which use Teesside Airport.
All I can say to Muslim extremists is " Come and have a go if you think you're hard enough "

paarmo, I admire the sentiment, however, in my opinion your last comment was totally unacceptable.

Surely you're condoning any kind of terrorist attack with such juvenile statements. Let's not forget the more recent attempts of terrorist attacks on London (the city of) and Glasgow airport and the consequences that followed.

Idiot.

Typical Pacifist Propoganda.Loopa 1

Terrorism only succeeds when people bow down to it.
In the US all incoming flights of Servicemen are met by Military Bands and their relatives even at civilian airports.
It is about time that we did the same.
I am sick to death of all of these doom and gloom merchants. We have the ability to take any fight to any terrorist group in this country and given the opportunity we should do so.
To have our Servicemen and women sneak into their own Country like thieves in the night is a National disgrace and embarrassment.
Publish the flight data and be damned because given the opportunity the Police and Security Services in this country will corner and eliminate the scum who besmirch the Muslim religion.

ThomsonFly have loaded summer 2009 flights (includes flights operated by 3rd part charter airlines for Thomson). Thir timetable shows just a weekly PMI flight Im afraid. No ALC, IBZ, MAH, TFS or Reus
