KLM
The signs were there, since 1 July they stopped handling EI, EI moved to DH3 from 4 and they moved from KLM lounge to The Aspire Lounge.
One good think is online check in, now possible ex AMS.
We shall see how long the KLM Lounge in YYZ lasts.
______
I also think it's KLM who must end any agreement, EI are unable to because of takeover conditions. So either KLM are coming to Cork or they will be happy with just DUB.

I imagine AMS, if it happened on KL would be a daily service, at most. Maybe even a night stop to being with. One daily flight isn't going to be great for onward connections, but I think 2x daily E190 would be a very strong opening entry. It's not impossible, DUB is already up to 4 daily. If KL do come on the route EI would almost certainly reduce frequency, so some opportunity for new routes, or return of the likes of Rome, Nice, etc.
Leeds doesn't seem to be back for next year so far. The launch always struck me as half hearted both marketing and schedule. I wondered if EI felt 3x daily to MAN was too much, Leeds and ORK likely offered zero charges, so it was probably worth a go. Given the success of NCL and SOU in particular I think EI know what they are doing and LBA will probably be back at some stage - likely a year or once it's eligible for zero charges again.

Saw on twitter last week that Aer Lingus couldn't confirm if the Leeds - Cork route was been axed or reinstated next summer seen as they still haven't finalised and released the full summer 2017 scheduled yet..

A new summer-only weekly scheduled service, operated by Volotea, to Verona has been announced by the airport.
In practice, Volotea have been flying a weekly charter service to Verona anyway, so it just switches the flight to being scheduled.
I can't see it having any impact in Cork, as people aren't going to even know about such an infrequent service. Flights to that area will continue to be booked as part of a package.
As Verona is a Volotea base, it might just pick up some extra inbound passengers.

Sad to see Cork is now again effectively a duopoly for EI and FR. Wizz, Easy jet, City jet have all had a go. Anyone else fancy trying to break in? There is scope for a single / or two RJ operation from Cork. Destinations unserved include Rome, Brussels, (somewhere in Scandinavia), Aberdeen / Inverness (once a week), LCY (twice but note three times daily feasible as already proven!). Also scope for a Baltic Route once or twice a week etc…
A bit of a shopping list I appreciate but all of the above destination would likely work on one or two rotations per week.

You could try Santa@northpole for some of those routes but bottom line is : Will they make money for the airline?
Aer Lingus and Ryanair have been around long enough to know the Irish market.
