Autobrake - It's a shame you didn't click further on the Ryan site, straw clutching or rumour making, full story and it's nothing to do with easy!!! "Ryanair, Europe’s largest low fares airline, today (4th September 2008) marks the recent closure of high fare airlines such as Zoom and Alitalia by intensifying its campaign against high airfares as it released 3 MILLION seats for travel in October and November from just €5 one way (incl taxes and charges)."

heard through the grapevine that all the ex-GB pilots still haven't signed a contract yet... and that the announcement has something to do with that... Not starting rumour.. just wondering if there's any truth in that...

6 captains from NCL on course first week in Dec, followed by another 10 of each seat. (It's still rostered for them as TBN for DEC, JAN and FEB)
2 airbuses to be based in NCL over winter crewed by pilots from other bases until the NCL pilots go on line.
Plan is then to go back down to 1 bus for the summer, with some pilots going back onto the Boeing once they have the neccessary bus experience until the whole base converts.
course - that was the plan as of 0900 this morning and as we saw with the command assessment debarcle recently, sims were cancelled the day before they were due, so it is only once it has happened that we will know for certain!!

Could I make a suggestion?
Instead of all this garbage why not wait for the announcement.
There is so much rubbish here eg there are no LHR slots for Ezy (they have all been sold) and not all ex-GB pilots have not signed new contracts.

But then - what would be the point of this forum? It's a RUMOUR network.
Suggestion - perhaps you don't read these posts. If it is garbage, why waste your time on it?
Here, here. That's what this section is called, Rumours and News, this falls in the former.
Maybe Groundloops had a bad day.

Funny that Groundloop, I thought PPRuNe stood for Professional Pilots Rumour Network

Conspiracy theories are really out now aren't they.
I have to say I don't believe that EZY are about to swallow Flybe. All I know is that we are going to announce our ¼ year financial results "in the first 2 weeks of Sept", so I am assuming it is this.
However whilst we are on the subject of mergers etc etc then looking at the facts, a very senior BE guy is off to EZY as I type, I heard a rumour that EZY are looking at the Q400, and it's strange how the announcements of both companies are on the same day.
Comments, conspiracies, thoughts, rumours etc are all welcome

Except, it's not in "Rumours and News", is it?
You got me there Groundloop, was thinking elsewhere.
Either way, the name of the site is a bit of a clue as to what the topics may contain. Still can't understand why you got your nickers in a knot.
Have a good one.

Groundloop - This was originally posted in rumour and news and it was moved here.
Throat - flyingfrog has now edited his post to say Autobrake and not me.
Heard today via a CAA pilot that's it's some sort of merger...
But merging with Flybe will hardly change the face of easyJet. Its still shorthaul around Europe and back home each night...!

As someone said above, buying another company may not 'change the face of easyJet', besides, I would like to think the company would save its cash reserves given that they are repeatedly warning about difficult times and challenging trading condions. Shelling out to take on another airline may not be the right use of aforementioned cash reserves at the moment.
A change in direction (as as result of a buyout/merger) is possible, but perhaps not with FlyBe. The company doesn't show too much interest in the UK regional market, prefering instead mainland Europe opportunities.
Stelios is challenging easyJet's revenue generating policies, and is unhappy with its use of his easy brand name. The two parties are at loggerheads and if he wins his impending court case easyJet will have their revenue raising opportunities severely restricted. This will jeapordise the business model (Financial Times) and so a move away from the easy brand could be a way forward (or the only way forward!).
In any case, it's fun speculating; that's what we're here for!

How about something as trivial as getting a dedicated terminal area at LGW, now that the BA retreat leaves some space for re-shuffling and/or re-modeling? Maybe accompanied with the announcement of a major expansion at LGW by re-positioning some STN flights and/or the introduction of through-booking just as Flybe already offers?

The company is rebranding and restructuring. The aim is to create a low cost alternative to legacy low cost carriers. Customers will pay nothing for their flights but instead pay to get off at their destination under the tested theme that most customers would pay great deal more to get off a low cost plane than they would to get on it.
Crews will pay to work per sector, split evenly between the Company and HMRC. Leave will be issued under the working time directive (of Somalia). While the aircraft is on stand it will be commanded exclusively by the traffic agent, who must be under 21 and have attitude. All flying will be rostered as per CAA CAP371.5 which states that all flying must follow the rules..unless it doesn't suit the Company. Recruitment and selection tests involve a large drill, an oil barrel and a small hedge(privet)..not sure of the details. The new name will be EasyJet Express. or perhaps Ryanjet Lite
