BASCO and 9G-LCA
A great pity to see a big engineering company pulling out of Bournemouth.
The airport has ideal hangars for aircraft overhaul and can deal with any sixe of aircraft.
The airport has good aids to get aircraft in at any time for engineering.
Could there be more to this than meets the eye, is there something in the pipe line like redeveloping the north side for a number of non aviation companies??
With the CL44 being one of the last aircraft to be worked on by B.A.S.C.O. is there any update on when the aircraft will be ready and will leave for greener pastures?

RE Basco
The Guppy and Swedish 737 are both currently in BASCOs hangar.
Rumour is that ATC Lasham who was eyeing up for the hangars are not interested.
Also heard that Manchester Airport group has granted Bournemouth a large sum of money for expansion for Bournemouth. This is great news if true and maybe a announcement willl be when easy jet anounce there flights next month.
Good news for Bournemouth....Roll on 2007.....

re: Nats
Buster the Bear
Had heared it would be turned into a Hotel, sounds pretty odd though. Would have thought the airport would take over it and build a brand new state of the art Terminal. Ideal place, isn't it?

POTENTIAL SALE: Thats a VERY good thing, honestly. MAG only held BOH back. New investor more likely to appreciate BOH for its locality etc
NATS: Better as a refurbished hotel, too expensive to tear down. Plus that awful Jet2 hangar is listed so cant be taken down... this means NATS land unlikely to be used as terminal area
BASCO: Real shame they are off, but hopefully will be replaced real soon - dont loose heart people
LAMINATE FLOORING: Blimey things really have gone down a notch in 'interior design' department

Only chitchat from the staff today,
Jet2 Buildings, - I was told that those grey building are almost empty and that they where beeing removed this month making room for the new terminal land.
Shell was refusing to move from there offices and therefore there buildings are unable to be knocked down and turned into more ramp space.
Terminal alterations where planned as in expanding the terminal out into the drop of zone and car park. These changes are maybe being done for the new potential owners.

If BOH stick to the masterplan, then the exisiting terminal is being built around and extended over the short term carpark. Full details of the plans are on the website. Check it out, it will more than treble the terminal building when complete. Plans are to start the building works next year (2007) and I believe that it will begin with a new purpose built arrivals with the rest to follow.

Manston Airport
BASCO: They're closing down completly.
Channel Express: I believe they're keeping them for the time being. I did see advertised jobs for Bournemouth still.
Nats: As I believe I've said before - I've heared rumours of it converting to a hotel.

From Ceefax:
A Dorset airport has been evacuated after three suspect packages were found outside the terminal.
Bournemouth International Airport was shut after the items were discovered
near the entrance in the early hours.
A police spokesman said bomb disposal experts were en-route to the scene and that all flights have been suspended.
Sally Windsor, spokeswoman for the airport, said any passengers due to
travel later are advised to phone the airport before setting off.
