Unlikely, the 170's have very good runway performance. The low CASM would mean they would have to charge high fares, plus the elephant in the room in that its a complete departure from Eastern's typical business model. Nonetheless it will be interesting to see how they utilise larger aircraft.
Fit like min?

I reckon Eastern are looking to branch out beyond their existing model because of the wholesale declines in business route traffic out of ABZ. Perhaps borne out of necessity?

I guess nowadays 2nd hand Embraer 170s can be bought relatively cheaply. They are not exactly selling like hot cakes and sought after. So a different business model might work.

I've heard that MBI Regional have lost the BAE/Airbus contract and Eastern have picked it up at Bristol, not sure about other contracted bases. So that's Toulouse, Chester runs and also another destination that i can not recall at this moment (SENIOR ONE !!)

With BA upgrading IOMLCY to E170 in S16, is it not possible that they will continue to use Easterns IOM crews to fly this aircraft rather than run with the cost of a night stop for their own
I've not checked but are any of Easterns existing routes in need of increased capacity? I've always seen them as a niche, rather than volume operator so I'm not sure that their business model would need this aircraft. I think they'd be crucified if they ever attempted to run SOU sun routes. LGW/BOH are too close for the, not to have to in part compete and the average fare they typically like to charge on existing routes is likely eye watering in comparison.
Happy to be proved wrong but I think it more plausible that Eastern crew will operate BA E170's from IOM when this change happens rather than acquire their own.

Anyone know where the 170's are coming from?
I hear they will be in 76Y config.

Airbus Corporate Shuttle
Now that Eastern has taken over the Airbus Corporate Shuttle from bmi regional it seems, from looking at the BRS Mayfly, that there are a number of occasions during the week when two ER4s are needed to meet the timetable requirements on the Toulouse-Bristol-Hawarden routes.
Is this the total complement of ER4s in the Eastern fleet? if so, what were they used for before? Many thanks in advance for any reply/replies.

first 170 for bacf work.
the second for ad hoc charter work.
but thats if there is anyone to fly them or an airline left very shortly. there is a mass exodus at eastern happening at the moment.
