Aer Arann are pulling out of Prestwick, and moving their Donegal service to Glasgow instead. This is to coincide with the launch of services from Dublin and Cork to Glasgow as part of Aer Lingus Regional. Last flight from Prestwick is the 26th of March.

this the latest rumour going around prestwick at the moment, i make it clear only a rumour, that virgin atlantic are looking to move the orlando 747 flight down to pik. for summer 2011. a new suite has to be built, and its a once a week flight running for 26 weeks. only a rumour and i take it with a heavy pinch of salt, so dnt shoot the messenger please!

The Robert Burns International Airport, Prestwick
Freight businesses should know by now where Prestwick is, so why do we need to use the GLASGOW prefix?
I'm just surprised that renaming hasn't been mentioned recently, especially with the Homecoming - Burns 250th - going on last year. Surely tourist numbers would have been affected positively if we had promoted the "Scottish Bard" brand.
Is it to late to ask that the Ayrshire airport be renamed "The Robert Burns International Airport, Prestwick" after the Greatest Scottish Hero Ever?
Perhaps with Tam and Ian back there's a chance of some common sense.
Use Glasgow as a bonus.

GLA-MCO for S11 is already on sale, currently twice weekly, every week from April to October. S11 will be Virgin's first full season at GLA.

Dropping Glasgow from the airport's name would be suicide.

Any chance of the new suite being called the Robert Burns International at least?
There will be no Virgin Atlantic suite at PIK as Virgin will not be switching Glasgow airports.
Even if Virgin did move airports, (which they won’t!), I highly doubt they would build a suite for it to be used just twice a week, during the summer.
Apologies if my post sounds blunt, but this is getting a bit silly now!
Trying to be realistic; is there any more news on the 7th based Ryanair aircraft?Its starting to look a bit unlikley now for S10, imo.

Why would Virgin Atlantic and Serviceair do that on the Monday of this week if Virgin were planned on moving to Glasgow Prestwick?!

when i did post the information about virgin, i did state it was with a heavy pinch of salt. i asked a manager about it and he did confirm there looking at pik, what pik can offer cost and facility wise. thats all i know, maybe they have already ruled it out, who knows? but they have been in 4 times and were in yesterday for a meeting. virgin would no doubt do there homework and weigh all the pros and cons. would say its costs at pik v better facilities at gla.both are feesible options i would say? lets here some opinions on it it with some pros and cons, not just dismissing it without reason. can a 747 depart full of pax and full of fuel to go the distance? at pik it can, thats a pro for pik, departure lounge at pik, thats a negative for me, your thoughts please

It's wishful thinking. The meetings might be about ongoing fees for circuit bashing rather than moving the Glasgow operation South to Ayrshire.
It would be like miving from Orlando to Sanford, which they're not doing either.
