When I phoned Aer Arann's head office a few days ago I was told in no uncertain terms that Aer Arann was definately not leaving Prestwick. Either they didn't know that the Donegal route was moving up to Glasgow or they weren't telling me the truth. I know that the loss of this route won't make a huge difference to Prestwick's passenger numbers but it is an unfortunate loss all the same. I wonder, if Ryanair eventually took over Aer Lingus, would Aer Lingus and Aer Arann move to Prestwick?

I read a few months ago that Turkish Airlines were considering a route from Istanbul to Glasgow. Is this the flight you mean or is it a route to the likes of Dalaman or Izmir?

You're right, it's not a disaster. It is, however, a pity that Aer Arann are moving out of Prestwick. Here's hoping that one day they may move back. A 7th based aircraft would be great but it would be even better if another airline was to launch routes in and out of Prestwick. At the moment there is only Wizzair and Ryanair.

aer arran moving out not a disaster, 7th based summer aircraft will more than fill the gap, 7 out in the morning, 7 terminating at night. you heard it here first
How many 737s did Globespan base at Glasgow International? As I'm guessing the sixth and now seventh Ryanair aircraft at Glasgow Prestwick since Globespan went under could completely replace the capacity lost up the M77?

Question : Rate the customer experience of 7 x 189 people through the lounge and in the queue in 6-7am slot. More of everything is not always better. I think W rotations from non based aircraft balancing out the day would be the ideal way to grow PIK without showing up the creaking infrastructure.
The Ryanair experience can be a strain with just two or three queues! The lack of daylight in the lounge doesn't help alas, being built underground to prevent jet blast from 707s.

I agree, Skipness. Even with the fairly recent "extention" the departure lounge couldn't cope with 7 x 189 passengers. A much larger extention would be necessary. It would be great to see Prestwick getting more passengers and flights though.

The £8 million investment, supported by £1.5 million from the Scottish government, will house Ryanair's fleet of more than 200 aircraft to be serviced.

This would mean the airport would have a steady stream of passengers all day, rather than a rush for 7 departures between 6am and 7am and then periods of zero departures when the PIK aircraft are all down route.
