I was wondering that myself. With eight destinations all being served once a week, that will sure bring a significant boost to passenger numbers.

I wonder if it will be a based aircraft or W pattern flights? I suppose we wont know till we have access to a flight schedule (currently nothing showing on the PIK timetable).

As I said in an earlier post, PIK is really starting to "steal" allot of GLA's core business. Although I do wonder if BAA actually care.

I wouldn't get excited about the Barrhead Travel announcement. The destinations are all served by Ryanair and looking on the Barrhead Travel website at flight timings to Palma, they are identical to the Ryanair schedule. My guess is that they have taken out a block booking on some Ryanair flights and are not operating their own charter.

I thought Ryanair didn't allow third party bookings, I thought everyone had to book direct through THEIR website. Remember they cancelled all the flights that were booked through screenscrapers. Maybe Barrhead travel have got some kinda deal?

Didn't Ryanair do charter flights a few years ago? I think one of the charter destinations from Prestwick was Faro which had to be booked through the holiday company and wasn't bookable directly from Ryanair.

I remember Ryanair operating PIK-FAO as a charter back in 2001.

What does ''any su flightd selling well '' mean ? Given Atlas were here yesterday, what is the basis of saying they have stopped ?

Hi everyone, Im new here so dont shoot me down immediately! lol.

Im dissappointed to hear that Virgin will not be coming to Prestwick. I must admit though that im not hugely surprised. It seems to me that if you look round the Uk and Europe you see companies investing in new terminal buildings etc to accommodate expansion. For example Bournemouth, Leeds etc. I dont think Infratil have the funds to do so. Sometimes i wonder about their will too. Essentially, what I am saying is that without more investment it is going to get more and more difficult for Prestwick to attract other airlines.

With Ryanair no longer talking to Boeing about purchasing more 737-800's and the long haul sister company about 5 years away, it is difficult to see where Prestwick's future growth is going to come from.

I will stop myself there because im even depressing myself! lol. As I say. Its a real shame Virgin decided not to use Prestwick.

I seen the following flight on the Departure screen at PIK. I guess its the new Carcassonne flight? Is an employee at the airport not sure how to spell Carcassonne and cant be bothered to check? **we need a laughing smiley for me to insert here!**

Ryanair FR4451 05:35 FRANCE

I also noticed that it looks like most of the based aircraft are departing around 05:30 rather than the usual 06:00. Any particular reason for this?

Probably something to do with the clocks changing not sure how they managed
it but all flights with PIK based a/c showing as departing an hour earlier than they really are.

Also you mention the Carcassonne flight, when Ryanair had their first flight to
Riga it was on the boards as destination "CCCP"

Just flown out of PIK to STN. Departure screens did say France instead of Carcassone (PIK Management get a grip please) five flights out early this morning and looked like good loads to CCF, BUD & PMI. Staff coped really well so well done! STN only about 60% but my afternoon flight back is almost full. Not sure about the DUB load this morning as flight was after STN. It does look like the sun destinations are filling up nicely.

This Golf Express might just work if marketed properly. There is great interest in the new (and old) Macrahanish links and with the number of US golfers playing at Turnberry, Prestwick and Royal Troon you just never know. With the number of golfers also on tours which include St. Andrews & Carnoustie in addition to those mentioned before perhaps a link to Leuchars or Dundee could work?

Apparently, the computer system the airport uses is causing problems. eg. not recognising CCF and messing up times after clocks changed. Their IT dept is dealing with company that supplied it at moment. Causing staff lot of hassle too.
