Is there enough demand at Iasi for both Tarom and Wizzair, even with the forthcoming longer runway ?
Interesting that the 2 airlines will be competing on IAS-LTN and IAS-BGY - would imagine that lowest cost base will lead to largest profits on these 2 routes

There are no such things that couldn't be ruined by... greed(?), apparently.

From now on:

Standard membership is for you and your travel companion, all for an annual fee of just €29.99
Group membership is for you and up to 5 travel companions, all for an annual fee of just €49.99
Until now, the member has been offered discount tickets for up to 10 pax at a time.

And then there is Luton with usually no Wizz based aircraft.

Wizzair at Luton

Hello,

Without needing a based aircraft for most of the time, the ACL winter season report (http://www.acl-uk.org/UserFiles/File...n%20Report.pdf) shows that Wizzair have slots to increase their movements at Luton by a massive 34% compared to last year, with over 30 departures per day.

This gives them 35-36% of Luton's allocated movements and available seats this winter (compared to 44-45% for Easyjet and a mere 10% for Ryanair).

Incidentally, there are slots for Tuzla - Luton, but no flights have been announced (yet).

The way that the Wizzair operation has grown at Luton is very impressive, as that photo suggests.

A320 - unlikely to be a full blown takeover by a company whose shares are listed on a stock exchange - there's a ton of regulation around companies having to be transparent to investors as a whole and preventing false markets / insider dealing and other forms of abuse. If there is to be a takeover with an announcement in 10 days time, investor speculation will likely force an announcement or at least disclosure of merger talks to be made earlier.

Could you provide a little more info as to what you've heard or a source ?

Any source of this "big" annoucement in 10 days?

Wizzair are not on the stock market, they indefinitely postponed their IPO on the London Stock Exchange in June this year...

Their ownership is not all that clear and a bit of a mystery, they are considered a private company, and think they are owned by one of these private equity companies.

Wizz are not listed on a stock exchange. If as A320baby suggests, Wizz are being bought out by another company, you have to ask who that other company is and whether they are listed on a stock exchange.

The largest shareholder in Wizz, I believe, is the American investment company Indigo Partners who also have a large investment in Ryanair and recently bought Frontier Airlines in the US - so you can make that of what you will.
As regards a rebrand IMHO I cannot see the need for this - Wizz is very well known in Eastern Europe and becoming increasingly well known now in other parts of the Continent and the UK with an outstanding colour scheme on its aircraft.

All be it, one of the taciest, cheap sounding brands in existance...the brand does them no favours at all as it doesnt reflect in any way the investment in a fleet of modern aircraft and the general offer of a decent service for an LCC. i travelled with wizzair a few weeks ago and cannot fault them in any way apart from trying to charge for cabin bags...

With an increase of 172% in operating profit year-on-year and pax figures increasing 13% year-on-year (FY2013 v FY2014) - I think the figures clearly state that their not in bad shape.

I don't see Wizz as tacky, I see them as the loco they are and I also see them as a market stimulator that I would more than welcome at my local.

I think they've got it right, not as brash as FR so as to put people off and necessitate a brand refresh, but also not the middle/higher end/business oriented loco EZY has become.
