I rather doubt if even Thomsonfly know in final detail what aircraft they will be basing at Coventry or any other base next summer. I suspect the ramifications of the merger will take a while to sort out. (and yes I had heard that rumour too, but one doesn't believe all rumours).

Sorry leofric, it is true: just 2 737-300s at Coventry next Summer, and presumably a severe cutting of routes as Thomsonfly already run a tight schedule (though not as tight as Globespan).
Given Thomsonfly's decision to purchase 737-800s, this was coming, and by the apparent decision by the company to be heading back towards the charter market, the scheduled/low cost side of operations looks as though it will be bearing the brunt.
The Airport must now hopefully erect some kind of permanent passenger facility (I doubt they will get permission for 2 million, but hopefully something which can handle around the 0.98 million currently permitted), and somehow get another main carrier in. Durham Tees Valley did it with the loss of BMIBaby resultin in FlyGlobespan, hopefully Coventry can do similar .

I agree with you ThomsonFly don't know what next year will bring. Their present masters TUI were never really a travel company being born out of the industrial Pressaug. ThomsonFly's future at CVT rests with First Choice.
Bring on Coventry as a dedicated freight hub I say.

The Wizz air flights are going well as a second carrier
The airport has had a 737-800 in and can work off the present length of runway with a balance of pax and weight.
The runway could actually take a full load 738 if the local council would give planning permission for the extended areas at the end which is unused (Originally a turning circle put in by the old operators wothout PP)
I gather the airport will be at Routes 2007 in Stockholm.
The appeal may take up to two years if the appeal is given and a Remitted enquiry takes place.

No, if you read my OP it can take 738 but not fully loaded.
IF the runway extension was allowed then that would be a different matter as it could then take a fully loaded 738

ATC Restrictions
Yet again, the Coventry management strike another blow. The airport now has to function with below the minimum of controllers on shift thus ensuring that the airfield is closed for 'ATC Breaks' 4 or 5 times during each day for between 30 to 40 minutes each time.
I have no axe to grind with ATC who perform a wonderful job in the most stressful of conditions. However, yet again, due to poor working conditions and pay from the Coventry airport owners, ATC have now got to shut the airfield at peak times each day. This can mean the disruption to Wizzair and Thomson and is also a great nuisance to the GA community I hear there.
By the time they get another compliment of personnel they will be 3 months down the line and still playing catch up.
Well done again Coventry management !You haven't got a clue!

Cvt - Alc
As a frequent (and happy) user of this service, I was wondering if anyone who is closer to the route / schedule planning process knows if this will be continued next summer.
It would be a great shame if they (TUI) cut back on the scheduled operation out of CVT next year, I have family working at the airport and the spectre of job losses as a result of any reduction always seems to be hanging around.

I'm sure the local residents love seeing/hearing the Wizz A320's/TOM B737's go around the CT hold at 3-4000ft as they can't make an approach due to the airfield being shut

Valencia finishes at the end of November and, as you say, does not look as if it will be re-instated for Summer '08. It is dropped from BOH too.
Now we must wait to see how the other routes fare - only the beach routes announced so far.

I got the e-mail newsletter from Thomsonfly last night and the flights were bookable then although the timetable part of the website still was not completely up to date this morning.
