Eastern seem to have alot of services from HIAL airports up north, could HIAL attract them back to Dundee? They do seem the obvious candidate.

Did see that in courier today and had a good laugh, but i suppose any airline would do !!

Just heard another wee snippet, the council have agreed to the proposal of transferring the airport to HIAL. If it is to go through it will be June/July onwards.

Still not set in concrete that HIAL are taking over as i was told "the council are looking at numerous avenues". Though from waht i hear, fife, perth & kinross & angus councils have all refused to assist in funding airport so HIAL is the all out favourite. I heard that it will be taken over by june/july, but then i also heard that it may not be until next year ? Only time will tell................

They can keep their hands off my pension !!

Thank you for your measured and considered response. I have deleted the post that caused you so much anguish.

Heard him being interviewed on Simon Mayo on Radio Five between christmas and new year, was a studio guest.

Cannot quite believe how the media fall for these things, just because Branson has taken an interest they seem to think it brings some credibility to it all!

Plan B is the one that worries me !, surely HIAL will take it over,if they think it isnt worth the hassle who will ? Bett homes and 250 luxury flats would be my guess

The bett homes line was meant to be taken lightly, there is no way that the airport will close, not with the vast sums of money being thrown at it. HIAL are still hot favourites.

Scot Airways would appear to have ruled themself out of any new routes, for the time being at least.

If i remember correctly, scot-airways were losing money but last year actually got back into the black. Their fleet is back up to 8 d328 and they did trial a 146 a while back on the london route so maybe they are just consolidating at the moment. Its all gone very quiet with regards to any more airlines !!

Century's up!

Always been a bit surprised that, given their commitments at Dundee, ScotAirways haven't been the ones to take up new routes.

On the face of it, with their fleet and their presence at Dundee, they have always seemed like a sound option.

They don't seem interested in expansion of ANY kind.
I always wonder why. BA must have dented their returns on LCY route from EDI.
You would think they would be looking for something new. They've been the same size for years (with minor fluctuations). I assume they are making money,or they would fold.

Bill I think You will find the 146 was only for the EDI-LCY route but could have been used in case of a tech problem or heavy load but it was only ever scheduled for the EDI route it is leased but cannot remeber Who from.

You're right matkat, was just used on edi-lcy route dont think it lasted as not used now ? Dundee is there for the taking and scotairways as the only airline to use and be based at dundee are in the prime position, i can only assume that they dont have the money or planes etc to expand................even though they are bankrolled by one of the richest men in scotland !!

So much for Aer-arran coming to Dundee, the only good point to come out of this is if HIAL take over Dundee !!
