Re: DUNDEE Airport
I'm sure the numbers would be there for man route. Business Air used to operate it well. Easter Airways short lived service had high fluctuations in numbers. On speaking to source at airport, aircraft sometimes had only one pax, but on the other hand was sometimes full-i dont think easterns pricing helped !!

Re: DUNDEE Airport
More news in paper about Dundee Airport. No link though.
City councillors were asked to approve a £70k refurbishment of one of the three fire tenders prior to may before the holiday charters start.
A source i know at the airport says that one of the tenders is away at the moment but is due back in march, with another due away till may. This plus the estimated 500k being spent on a fire training area is a substantial investment in the airport.
If only someone would announce new routes to Dundee they could pay for it all !!

Re: DUNDEE Airport
There certainly seems to be ongoing investment in the airport infrastructure, the council don't seem to neglect it by any means. Just a shame that, at the moment, it is perhaps not achieving its full potential.
Like Blabbermouth says, if only some new routes were realised it would all seem so much better.
matkat, long way from united-mad are you not? Same old turmoil!

Re: DUNDEE Airport
Anyone catch, i think, the Grampian news tonight? Been told second hand that there was a piece on Dundee Airport and the council's desire to offload it into private hands? Haven't seen anything else to this end recently, anyone confirm or deny?

Re: DUNDEE Airport
Seemingly there was a bit on the news about Dundee Airport being sold, it was at the end of a clip about selling of the leisure centres in dundee to a trust. Speculation i think about if it goes well, the council will try and dipose of airport too ?
just a further note of interest, definately goings on at the airport with regards to new routes, no definate name yet or destinations but Flybe, loganair and Aer-arran all rumoured to be looking. it would be nice to see maybe Dublin, manchester even amsterdam ?

Re: DUNDEE Airport
As someone with inside info on the airport, we've heard rumours about various airlines linked with Dundee. Lately FlyBe, Air France, Loganair, Aer-arran as well as further Scot-Airways routes have been mentioned. We as much as anybody are in the dark, no doubt we would be the last to know ! Something is definately going on as a number of things happening at the airport seem to point towards new routes. But nothing concrete at the moment. Please can someone from any of the above airlines confirm this ?

Re: DUNDEE Airport
How about the rumours regarding the possibility of a change of ownership at Dundee, could this be tied in somewhere with potential routes and / or the recent upgrading of some facilities?
Just speculation of course.

Re: DUNDEE Airport
There was word of HIAL taking over Dundee, but nothing been said yet. seemingly there was a mention on the news about privatistation of council services from leisure to airport, again nothing yet. There has been and is a lot of investment going on, new papi lights, new airport vehicles, upgrading of fire tenders, new fire training ground and resurfacing of airport roads etc.
It just seems a lot to be spending with no new routes yet ?

Re: DUNDEE Airport
Hell of a lot of rumours about at moment, we shall all just have to wait and see, found this in news....
http://www.thecourier.co.uk/output/2...y7918685t0.asp
PASSENGER NUMBERS at Dundee Airport showed a small fall in 2005 but was balanced by a rise in the number of aircraft, writes Brian smith, aviation reporter.
The drop of around 2% was anticipated and reflected the first full year of changes to the ScotAirways Dundee to London City services, difficult weather periods and other factors, a spokesperson for the airport said yesterday.
The number of passengers fell from 51,338 in 2004 to 49,219. Aircraft movements over the same period rose from 32,120 to 37,259.
Increased activity by Tayside Aviation and a rise in the number of business aircraft accounted for the rise. The number of business aircraft more than doubled, from 42 to 100, and was attributed to the presence of The Open at St Andrews and flights associated with the G8 conference.
Dundee City Council economic development convener Joe Morrow said, “Dundee Airport continues to fulfil a vital role for this area and the direct link into the heart of London is an integral part of growing this city’s economy.”
