Still not whooshing!

Thanks for the info.

(Parents duly delivered, by FlyBe at 2105, seemingly none the worse of their 8hour trek.)

To be fair to the 'Whooshers' at Dundee, they report kind, courteous, well-informed service in an obviously difficult situation.

I see that today's rotation is also cancelled. The ATR must have a serious dose of something!

According to the WEA (Poland) website www.wea.com.pl:
Suspension of flights in Dundee. Due to economic reasons WEA has decided to suspend until further notice flights to Birmingham and Belfast as of 6.12.2007. All passegners with tickets purchased should contact Flywhoosh representatives for refund. WEA advises strongly not to purchase any tickets directly from Flywhoosh.COM under WEA call sign.
But Mr M will still happily take your money
Oh we've been here before... haven't we?

From Fywhoosh website:

White Eagle Aviation S.A. have stopped delivering their services between Dundee / Belfast and Dundee / Birmingham.
Any claims for refunds or compensation for tickets for travel up to and including Dec 21st should be addressed to White Eagle Aviation at their head office in Warsaw, address below.
However, in order to honour as many ticket sales as possible, we are in advanced discussion with a new flight provider to fly these routes from Monday Dec 17th 2007.
Specific confirmation of these developments will be posted on this website by Thursday Dec 13th with details of the carrier. Untill this confirmation is specific we will be unable to take any further bookings.

So basically White Eagle have taken their ATR back? White Eagle and FlyWhoosh are blaming each other while passengers have no flights?

Wonder if ScotAirways are likely candidates for this? Seeing that they are now just offering ACMI and ad-hoc charters... Maybe the D328 would be a more suitable aircraft than the ATR?

From Dundee Courier this morning.

"FEARS WERE growing in Dundee over the future of flyWhoosh airlines last night after it emerged the company’s partner had pulled out of the deal—leaving them without a plane.
Warsaw’s White Eagle Aviation removed their ATR42 from Dundee Airport yesterday and announced they would no longer run flights in and out of the city for “commercial reasons”.
Although flyWhoosh operate the flights from the city they lease the plane and crew from the Polish company.
White Eagle’s decision came after days of disruption and cancellations for Dundee passengers booked on flights to and from Belfast and Birmingham.
A spokesperson for White Eagle in Warsaw confirmed they had “suspended” the flights."

Nice one for the new airport operators to deal with on their first week !! I do hope Whoosh can get things sorted out, i have used service a number of times and load numbers were quite good. Sure someone else will snap it up if Whoosh pull out.

Probably best to leave Whoosh to die a quiet death. If the loads were as good as previously mentioned, it would be good to see ScotAirways move in BUT ScotAirways on their own seem to lack the dynamism, to go for that sort of expansion. However there is now the City Jet factor. Will City Jet look towards this type of expansion out of Dundee, using ScotAirways Dorniers??

Let's hope so.

I think the issue here possibly lies more with the ticket sales. Do the tickets not have to sold against the AOC of the operating company and not Whoosh. Already Whoosh say contact White Eagle and vice versa for refunds so all very confusing.

I should imagine Whoosh want the ticket funds a.s.a.p but the operator holds onto them until sectors/fares are flown ? Not sure how all this works but no doubt a deal breaker rather than finding an aircraft to operate the route?

Why leave them to die???

'Probably best to leave Whoosh to die a quiet death. ' recomends jarvis123.
Why?? This is a good venture and as far as I can tell, these guys have flown about 17,000 people so far. Here at BHX feelings have been positive for a long time. We saw a sell out last week on the first southbound of the day from DND and Whoosh laid on an expensive Eastern Saab2000 to ensure that they all got here!
Cant imagine what they spent last week putting hundreds of people into flybe seats (lucky old flybe - all that revenue and no work to get it eh?) and from where we sit these guys have done a darned good job.
Not got a clue what the WEA problem is/was, but we have only seen hard work and generally happy customers (if we dont lose their bags that is).
Cant help wondering what Mr Jarvis 123 has done that has been similarly challenging this year!
For pities sake ppruners - when will someone start to recognise how hard this is to do and applaud the effort?

In the courier this morning

Flights to resume in a week, says flyWhoosh
By Graham Huband
THE CHIEF executive of troubled airline flyWhoosh said last night he expected services to resume from Dundee Airport in one week’s time.
However, Aden Murcutt said the complete breakdown of the firm’s relationship with Polish-based White Eagle Aviation—which supplied flyWhoosh’s plane and crew—meant that no one who expected to travel with the airline this week would be able to do so.
Mr Murcutt said a new company—which he refused to identify—had agreed to step into the breach to provide an aircraft to fly the airline’s network from December 17.
He said it was impossible for the new operator to be in place this week, so all services had therefore been cancelled in the interim.
The situation has caused huge difficulties for dozens of passengers, many of whom have contacted The Courier in recent days to express their concerns.
Mr Murcutt said last night that flyWhoosh was not liable for refunds or any compensation that might be owed to passengers who had been inconvenienced since the problems began with the carrier last week.
He said in effect flyWhoosh was not an airline but an agency selling tickets for White Eagle Aviation, who, he suggested, would be liable for any monies owed.
No one was available at White Eagle Aviation yesterday to respond to the claim.
Mr Murcutt said he believed the routes flyWhoosh had been operating remained viable commercially and hoped the 17,000 passengers who had flown with the airline thus far would do so again once the current problems had been resolved.
He said the present situation had been prompted by damage sustained last week to the wing of the firm’s only aircraft.
He said, “We have been selling tickets for a Polish airline. The aircraft they have based with us has become exceedingly ill and basically without notice they decided to call it a day. We had an agreement in place to rent something else for a week, but that changed late on Friday.
“We have now got a new operator that will start on Monday, the 17th, flying the same routes at the same times. The bottom line is it has proved impossible to provide cover for this week. The new company will honour any tickets in existence from December 17.
“If we can encourage people to believe the new operator is a completely different company—different pilot, different manager, engineer, different everything except routes and timetables—then I am fairly confident that customers will see it has become reliable again.”
Dundee-based North East Scotland MSP Marlyn Glen last night said she had raised her concerns over the future of the airline with Scotland’s Transport Minister Stewart Stevenson.
She said she had urged the government to give “every possible assistance” to ensure flyWhoosh could continue to operate from Dundee Airport.
Ms Glen said she hoped concrete steps would be taken this week to prove the airline was on a solid footing.
“We must hope for better news this week. FlyWhoosh intend to publish ‘specific confirmation of these developments’ on their site by this Thursday. I have asked the Transport Minister to monitor the situation closely.”
She added, “It is very important to the long-term benefit of business and commerce in Dundee that the city maintains and improves its air links.”

So who is the new operator ?

I really do hope all is well, unlike jarvis 123 i would like to see them succeed. I have flown a number of times and will be flying more. Think there will be a bit of a dip with what has happened, but as long as the new operator is behind this venture then all should be okay. Just hope BHX doesn't lose any more bags !!

Sounds like it could be one of the Flightline ATR42's taking over? When does their cover for Euromanx with CDFF finish? Currently covering for a Dash 8 on maintenance I believe.

1In the evening paper.......

10 December 2007
Cancelled flights refund assuranceThe partner of flyWhoosh airline has assured the UK airline regulator that air passengers affected by recent cancellations are to receive refunds (writes David Clegg).Last week saw almost all of the firm’s flights to and from Dundee cancelled after a malfunctioning wing caused the company’s only plane to be grounded.
Matters went from bad to worse on Friday when Whoosh’s partner in the operation, White Eagle Aviation, decided to pull out of the deal.
The Warsaw-based company — which had provided the plane and crew for the flights — removed their ATR42 from Dundee Airport on Friday and announced they would no longer run flights for “commercial reasons”.
Stranded customers began to fear they would be left out of pocket when Whoosh chief executive Aden Murcutt claimed they were not an airline but an agency selling tickets for White Eagle Aviation, who, he said, would be liable for any monies owed.
One concerned passenger told the Tele, “I had two flights cancelled last week and am owed nearly £500. It is now proving impossible to contact flyWhoosh. Their phones seemed to have been switched to answer phone — I just can’t get a response from them at all.
“They are saying you have to contact Poland to get a refund but when I got hold of them I was told it was in the hands of their lawyers.”
Another said she had already “written the money off” as lost.
The Tele today highlighted these concerns to the UK’s airline regulator, the Civil Aviation Authority.
A spokesperson confirmed Whoosh was the UK trade name for White Eagle Aviation and said that as the firm are registered in Poland the CAA has no mandate over them.
However he added that they had received assurances from White Eagle that all payments would be made.
“We have received a letter from the company telling us what happened,” he said.
“They have assured us they will be making the appropriate refunds and payments to anyone affected.”
He added that anyone whose flight was cancelled with less than seven days notice were also due compensation under EU regulations. Mr Murcutt was contacted by the Tele today but said he “did not have time to speak”. He has maintained that flights would restart from December 17 thanks to a new carrier which he has refused to identify.

Cannot see cityjet/airfrance taking over the whoosh flights, from what i have seen, they are struggling with there own figures at times. Apparently though, a swiss airline is taking over the running of flywhoosh with a much smaller aircraft but the fact that mr murcutt will not reveal the name of the company he is to go into a new partnership with makes it seem doubtful that this will last long, which is a shame because dundee could use the extra flights, but there is always the potential for new flight routes through highlands & islands. heres hoping!

whoosh could not have been making a profit or at least a good profit with the flight figures that they have had on occasions. i flew to belfast not long after they started, there was 5 members of cabin crew and only 4 passengers including myself. luckily for them numbers have picked up...not drastically on a few occasions though

Following and as a consequence of the long term technical failure of the Whoosh ATR aircraft, White Eagle Aviation S.A. have suspended their 'Whoosh' services between Dundee / Belfast and Dundee / Birmingham without giving notice.

All Whoosh flights were operated by White Eagle Aviation of Warsaw Poland and we regret to advise that flights are cancelled until further notice from Dec 9th 2007

From the FlyWhoosh Website - Suspended!! Will they return?

Or the White Eagle Aviation slant on proceedings:

'Suspension of flights in Dundee. Due to economic reasons WEA has decided to suspend until further notice flights to Birmingham and Belfast as of 6.12.2007. All passegners with tickets purchased should contact Flywhoosh representatives for refund. WEA advises strongly not to purchase any tickets directly from Flywhoosh.COM under WEA call sign.'
