Does DND have the ability to handle International flights (immigration, customs etc)? I'm just wondering if Whoosh (or even Scotairways I suppose) could start another, non-UK route.

the route will be dundee-birmingham-newquay using the same plane as there is a decent enough time gap between the first birmingham flight and the afternoon belfast flight.

...which means that the flight from BHX to DND is not really attractive to BHX passengers : Dep at 11:30 - 12:00 ish with a return at 15:55 - not much use for business passengers.

Dundee terminal has international arrival area, customs and immigration are by request at moment. Never causes problem with large quantity of biz traffic, also jersey runs on a saturday.

Seems to be a bit of confusion about Fly whoosh's new route ? No mention on the fly whoosh website at all.

As for the Belfast route, colleague flew out today and counted 24 pax, so not as quiet as we thought ?

Newquay

It is now bookable if you have loads of money!

Three times the cost that Baby charged and I am not just on about
August fares.

However worth a go, Baby did carry a reasonable amount of pax as stated in the recent press release, they just forgot to charge the punters

I checked for a family of 4 and it was all about £650, I declined.

Peter

Schedules

Just looked at the Flywhoosh reservations site.

Bit confused on their schedules - Tue & Thu aircraft goes to NQY, so the first BHX dep to DND will be around 13:15, but the res system is still showing a 09:05 depature. And what happens to the BHD on Tue / Thu? Have they got a second aircraft in the system?

As far as i thought, tues & thurs flight departs dnd 0710 to Birmingham, it then departs birmingham and does return to newquay before returning to dundee to carry out the belfast run and then the final birmingham run.

Yes but....

On Tues & Thu the flight 611/701 from NQY & BHX arr DND at 1445, whereas the 630 to BHD is scheduled to leave at 1320? Will the BHD be canx on Tues & Thu if its not going so well? There is some sort of star by the side of the flight numbers but no explanation.

Apologies................so i see, not sure what plans will be for belfast ? I know numbers have been varying and it has been a struggle. But i flew out to belfast other day with what i could count, about 25+ pax ? so maybe it is picking up.

Understand average of 10-12 per flight and rumour control says Mr Murcott needs approx 20 to breakeven. 1043 pax carried in June which I make approx 11.85 per flight based in 4 weeks @ 22 sectors (11rotations a week) = 88 sectors / 1043 ?

Thanks for the info. It's early days yet and traffic can build, we need to wait until the July figures to see which way things are headed.

Hopeful intitial losses have been built into business profile.

As with all postings, it's best to check for existing threads. There is one already for Dundee, and it's only on page 2.

My initial and pure guess is that very little would of been built in to stem route losses, remember alot of cash went into Flywho and suspect investors may not have the deep pockets we think. The scheduling for NQY is not the best either and also remember it is a very leisure orientated market so yields will not be the best. Jetstream Express in BLK found out that as soon loads were not what they expected they were not prepared to stem any losses to grow routes. It can take 6-12 months to route prove.

Best of luck anyhow to them.

Just my humble opinion!

NQY

I assume that is inside information as I have just been quoted £113 return
on 2/8/07 on their website!
