And there's More !!!!!

Paying costs"IT’S right Dundee City Council has taken steps to unburden council taxpayers of the leisure and swimming amenities. Edinburgh and Perth & Kinross have already set up not-for-profit organisations.
I believe something similar is now planned for Dundee Airport.
It isn’t fair that Dundee’s taxpayers have been left to pay the costs for an asset that also benefits the business communities of Perthshire, Angus and Fife. — Skint.
[A spokesperson for Dundee City Council said that the question of charitable status, on a similar basis to the proposal for leisure services, has never been discussed and is not considered an option for the airport. There have been tentative talks about the management of the airport being contracted- out to another operator and a link with Highlands & Islands Airports, who operate Inverness Airport among others, has been one of the suggestions. The spokesperson said, “We continue to discuss options for the airport.”]

From the local SNP site. Seems concessions have been made re. criteria for funding routes etc.
Think this article was from around August / September if memory serves. Would HIAL have the same benefits available?

I didn't say which year
Only joking, my apologies for that oversight. I was sure the SNP MP and MSP were quoted somewhere recently discussing the airport.
Perhaps I imagined it.
Edit: The article itself says 4th November 2005. Perhaps i didnt imagine it after all

What would HIAL bring to the party, airlines wise?
Eastern, Loganair are pretty consistent throughout their current airports. Could HIAL's relationship with them encourage them into Dundee?

You must think that if HIAL take over they will bring a general degree of professialism to the running of the airport. With due respect to the City Council, they have built it up from its humble beginnings, but it now takes a lot of time and money to run an airport and that is time which i dont think they have.
I have spoken to quite a few people down at the airport and they are completely in the dark with regards to a takeover, all they have heard are the same rumours as everyone else and as someone put it "are getting quite peeved off" with not being told anything by the council.
As for flights into and out of Dundee, eastern did the shortlived Manchester route and Loganair have been previously linked to the airport, so who knows................(HIAL and Dundee City Council !!!)

Mmmmm rumours abound something going on "i hope"
As said the airport will never close as the council have invested far too much time and money. But these days it takes a lot of time and a lot of money to run an airport neither of these the council have. I do hope HIAL are taking it over just be nice to know what and when ?
As for new routes its all gone a bit quiet, i did hear that an announcement was rumoured for end of this month with a start date of march but nothing heard yet. Anyone else heard anything ??

Heard dublin too, rumoured to be 2 routes a 5-7 day a week and a 3 times a week. The scottish executive changed the funding for dundee to allow funding for 3 times a week domestic routes so it may make sense.
