DUNDEE

Just wondering if anyone out there had heard any rumours about new airlines/routes. Allegedly the council are in discussion but with whom ?

Re: Dundee Airport

Why did the T3 flights with a JE32 to MAN not work?

Were the poor loads simply down to the fares they charge?

Re: Dundee Airport

Isn't ScotAir the only company to fly out of Dundee?? I know they fly between there and LCY and a couple of other places.

I might need to start going there on a fairly regular basis, and I was wanting to try a different company to see what their prices were like.

ScotAir provide a very expensive, poor service. LCY is also the other side of London to me as well.

Just LCY from Dundee with Scot Airways, though VLM operate summer Jersey charters

Blabbermouth 5th Jan 2006 08:19

Re: Dundee Airport

Just Scot Air Lcy 4 return flights a day, Eastern just pulled out said reason was poor loads........ but just after they pulled out they took over a lot of BA routes from abardeen !!

Keep hearing rumours of FlyBe, Logan Air, Air Aerran, there is money avaiable to subsidise the route, it just seems that every day a scottish airport announces a new route and Dundee is just sitting on its backside ?

Blabbermouth 5th Jan 2006 08:20

Re: Dundee Airport

Oh and VLM do fly May to Sep to Jersey, i believe they fly on to guernsey after jersey.... does this count as another route ?

Re: Dundee Airport

Certainly been nothing in the local media for a while now. They usually throw you the odd titbit here and there every so often but all quiet on the airport front just now.

Thats to the best of my knowledge anyway, which isn't something i would recommend you assume to be gospel.

Maybe there is someone out there far better connected than I, who could help us out?

Re: Dundee Airport

i think another london route, dublin, belfast and manchester has been rumoured by a 50 seat operator...maybe flybe im not sure. my source has told me they would be offering low fares

WOWBOY 5th Jan 2006 16:02

Re: Dundee Airport

Flybe don't operate 50 seater aircraft anymore, I dont think?
well the Q400 is a 78 seater but can that operate into dundee?

City Star Airlines could be the operator?

shedrule 5th Jan 2006 17:40

Re: Dundee Airport

Dundee can accommodate up to the RJ100, according to the official council web page.

I would guess that would mean a Flybe Q400 wouldn't pose a problem, but that is merely conjecture.

shamrock7seal, you seem to be in the know, care to disclose anything further?

Re: Dundee Airport

Loganair or even BA Citiexpress would be a good candidate for Dundee !

Blabbermouth 5th Jan 2006 18:38

Re: Dundee Airport

I'm sure i've seen citystar D328 in at Dundee on charters a few times, as far as i'm aware a q400 can get in. as shedrule says it can take the rj100. The loads for manchester with eastern considering the price were sometimes okay, so if a lower fare operator came in i assume more people would use the service. As for Dublin, i've heard that muted for some time as the University has strong irish links.

Just for info a source at airport says that nearly 500k has been spent in last few months on new airfield equipment including papi lights so all the council needs now is someone to pay for it !!

Waveman 5th Jan 2006 19:45

Re: Dundee Airport

Q400 could operate out of Dundee at about 1 tonne under max TOM. Enough for 78 pax & 3hrs fuel.

I for one would rather use them than Scotair. Even if it was from LCY. It might even bring down Scotairs ridiculuos prices as well.

Re: Dundee Airport

Blabbermouth, - Flybe will have lots of spare aircraft around this year, the question is will there be anyone to fly them?

Blabbermouth 6th Jan 2006 11:34

Re: Dundee Airport

Aha it all seems to be coming together......

I suppose we can only wish, If Flybe did fly dnd to lcy it would spell the end of Scot-Airways (no loss). Dublin and Manchester would be good routes as long as it does'nt clash with theie routes from aberdeen ?

Someone out there knows something. i'll just have to keep my fingers crossed.

Re: DUNDEE Airport

Advertisement on local paper saying that bookings are now being taken for Jersey and Guernsey 2006, so they have expanded charter as VLM flight now transiting onto Guernsey.

Wow.. does this mean that we can say that you can fly to 3 destinations from Dundee !!

No more news/rumours about FlyBe ?
