There are no reasons for the colourscheme of the aircraft on a specific route. Some aircraft have cityjet livery and some have air france livery. The aircraft are used/rotated as required over the entire cityjet network with no relation between livery and route. As far as I am aware the aircraft will not be all painted in the same (cityjet) livery.
Cityjet used to operate all their routes as "air france by cityjet" and all the new LCY routes are branded "cityjet for air france". If I recall correctly the LCY-ORY and LCY-DUB flights already existed and remain "air france by cityjet".
ScotAirways are flying on wet lease for cityjet with air france flight numbers (as all cityjet flights have). So for the pax all the flights are air france with air france tickets, not really confusing I would say...

It will be interesting to see which way the brands go.

Certainly among a lot of business travellers, VLM has a stronger product than CityJet-for-by-with-tied-to-impersonating-Air France-by-CityJet, but as a brand a simple "CityJet" is a good name for any merged entity that may develop.

Would it then make any sense to merge with KLM CityHopper?

Is this all getting a bit confusing????? It is to me!

Cityjet RJs,goodbye 146

Cityjet have said goodbye to the last of their 146 aircraft, but disquiet remains in paris, at the poor reliability of the RJs purchased from Mesaba. The company are not publishing any punctuality records right now,due to the fact
that it makes unpleasant reading, and a recent survey of passengers has shown a huge disatisfaction with the cityjet service,a marked level of frustration, what is it about the RJ that makes it so unreliable,or is it a maintenance issue?
The 146 appeared to have been a great workhorse, but I wonder what future for it now,are they all too old?The RJ is not exactly a baby either I guess, ciao za

Given that the alternatives are :

1) Fokker 50
2) DHC8
3) ATR42
4) 146
5) F70
6) ERJ145 / ERJ135
7) A318

One can see why they went with the RJ85.....

I think you will find that they have sourced another four, also ex Masaba, but the deal is still in the process of being signed off.

In answer to the unreliability, if you park an aircraft in the desert for years they don't like it !

I think that CityJet don't quite get what customer service is all about.
  • Their staff seem to be plain miserable most of the time.
  • They make announcements in imprenetrable french accents.
  • I have flown with them mainly in the UK and Ireland, yet they send you emails in French!, you have to scroll down to get the english version.
  • They debit you credit card twice everytime, once for the fare, the second for a £1 service fee. why? it is stoopid, annoying when claiming expenses.
Minor niggles I suppose, could be good when they get their act together. Am I being too picky?

CityJet

Flying Phil, you're so right because I always think the same thing.

You're flying from London City - Dublin and you get emails in French and boarding announcements in broken english. I'm all for being cosmopolitan but when you don't have a clue what's being said it's all down to the screens to get you to the right place.

Have you also noticed that the first boarding call is always the last and final.

I've given up on complaining to the £1 service fee thing, no one can give me an answer and when they try it comes from AF and doesn't really make sense, it just confirms to me that they have the fee and doesn't explain why!!!!!

Well, that's open skies in Europe, I guess. Remember that in non-English speaking markets a lot of foreign carriers do not make announcements in the language of the country they are operating to, but only in their mother tongue and in English. I guess most people do not know that Cityjet is indeed an Irish airline from which one ocld expect proper English announcements when they see the Air France livery.

I have come across a separate service fee on a travel website in the past. I think it was expedia.co.uk, if I am not mistaken. Maybe it has do to with tax reasons that they split the total sum into two?

So its not just me then.

It's the whole customer experience thing.
FOr example, we were all herded into the departure gate room at City, that is too small, and shouted at to move to the back,, no please or thank you's. Then the CityJet staff seemed to be having a big row amongst themselves, with one of the girls saying very loudly that one of her colleagues was useless,(!)

As all the flights I have been on from London City have been to Scotland and Ireland I would have thought it is reasonable to expect announcements and emails in English. There is no such place as Hedinboourg - it is Edinburgh!

And the biscuits they give out are horrible!

rant over

Well, all your complaints nicely demonstrate that Cityjet need not be concerned. Although you have all had repeated unpleasant experiences, you continue using them rather than flying to Ireland or Scotland from one of the four other London airports. Talk about an USP (unique selling point) of a product....

Cityjet have been very quiet since winning the DUB - NOC PSO contract, nothing on the website or booking engine. Any info on how it will operate yet?

Broken English announcements for WX flights from DUB-LCY are nothing new, its their handling agent who just seem to hire anybody that goes for an interview!

It's all very nice what you are saying about broken English on CityJet !But from what I can remember of the complains I was getting the most from passengers in my times there, the main one was that most cabin crew would not speak french on FRENCH routes. Everyday I had to deal with passengers angry who paid Air France and were getting no proper service in their language. So ok, I do understand that CityJet is Irish but CityJet is 100 % Air France and they are not many french crew left anyway...

If there is a choice I go BA from LCY to Edinburgh, at least get a sandwich/meal and sometimes a smile! (although BA cancelled the flight last time.. grrrr)

Its just there are a lot of minor niggles that could be put right.
Another example is the check in machines,,, you have to input a number longer than the code for DNA! (with BA it is just six numbers/letters ..I just checked that ...sad eh!)

But as Virgin Blue says their USP is that they fly out of LCY that is so easy for me to get to... it costs me at least £30 and an hour or so to get to STN, LHR, LTN or LGW.. then there is all the waiting around for your bags and the mile hike to get to the gate..

Hopefully CityJet will get their act together one day.

Dub-noc

Due to WX fleet commitments, It will be hard for WX to source an aircraft by 22nd July.

It is unlikely WX will be able to operate jet services on the sectors.

RE are in the running to operate a "wet-lease" or complete takeover for WX on the service.
