Cityjet slowly changing business model from scheduled airline to ACMI provider

Cityjet has been around for about 20 years now?

Recently the Irish airline CityJet, a former Air France-KLM subsidiary, made several announcements that will change the structure of the company over the next few months.

BA are dropping Hamburg and Madrid (even though the latter is a major IAG hub).

Someone on a.net mentions that they will also give up LCY-AMS? Is that true - it is still bookable for the summer schedule?

KLM Cityhopper to wet lease two RJ's from 15 May to operate KLM LCY-AMS (x4 daily) to bring it to x8 daily and also operate to Belfast, Birmingham, Hamburg and Bordeaux.

KLM Cityhopper signs agreement with CityJet for the summer season

So actually flying as KLM with a Cityjet code share and not Cityjet with a KLM code share. No extra flights just another nail in the coffin for Cityjet at LCY come the winter when this agreement finishes!!

It's almost like they're returning to their roots, but for KLM instead of AF!

Does anyone know if WX are using their SJ100s on scheduled routes or if not when they intend to do so? I know a few are with other airlines and it's not able to get into LCY yet but presumably the long term plan is for them to operate their scheduled routes.

River Joint

I believe that Cityjet are to be an ACMI operator in the future and scheduled services of their own won't form any of their business going forward.

So I would assume with the recent reductions at LCY that it will enventualy bring the demise of all scheduled flights from the airport in the forseable future.

Canberra97: You certainly seem to be right. I was curious to see how the did with the sj100s at LCY but as you say it probably is never going to happen.

Noticed a Titan 737 charter into Belfast Int. this morning on a Cityjet callsign. Apparently Cityjet has a summer contract with a cruise company to shuttle passengers to / from the port in Spain, but in turn have subcontracted it to Titan.

Maybe that's the sort of thing they'll be doing on their own Russian metal once they drop those pesky scheduled services.

CityJet revenue expected to jump by a third to ?280m this year - Independent.ie
Main Points:
* Revenue to grow by €280 million in 2017
* Complete another acquisition in 2017
* Extended AF operating agreement into 2018 + looking to extend longer
* Avro fleet to stay for an extra 2 years (2021)
* Going after EI Regional Contract (ends 2021 I think)

Part depends on the leasing arrangements for the Sukhois. I think these will be pretty generous, as they are keen to extend their customer base, and presumably will be pretty much pay-by-the-hour.

Pat Byrne has said they intend to keep a central core of schedules. London City to Dublin is still a mainstream service for them.

They seem to be picking up quite a bit of regional flying for European majors. I had thought their longstanding operation for Air France was ended, but they have had it extended.
