With regards to the callsign, yes we are Durham now - not practical as has already been pointed out, but hey - we only have to use it every day at work therefore what say in the matter do we get?!!!

The Globespan B763 was doing route training, EGPF-EGNV-EGGP-EGNV-EGPF I believe - got us nicely busy with 3 in the circuit (which sadly all landed before the B763), a Thomson B752, a few Dominees and a C130 - all good fun...shame it can't be like that every day of the week.

Interesting to hear about the BRS route...nobody has bothered telling us yet so I do not know if it is definately being pulled or not? Would be nice to see BMI Baby operate Cardiff, but there may not be enough demand for a B733 on that route with EZY just up the road (and remember they operate a Newquay which isn't toofar away???)

I agree with GMST, Bournemouth route would be great...especially in the summer season, but again - I don't know which carrier would be interested in it.

As in the same area of the country - sorry didn't clarify. Newquay I seem to recall has Bristol as an alternate and is around 50 miles (?) away. Cardiff was being touted on here as a possible replacement for the BRS service so I wasn't clear enough when I posted (being still half asleep!).

And of course not being from that area of the country it's all "down south" to me ;-)

HeathrowDictator since when have Cardiff (Wales) and Newquay (England) been in the same country? They are quite a distance apart and not only that even further to travel between if your driving because you have this thing called the Severn estuary obstructing any straight forward journey between the two.

Anyway has anyone any news on the Bristol whats actually happening?
Have Eastern looked into the possibility of a Brussels any further? Or any other routes?

Is there any indercation of the routes from bmibaby for the winter? Are the two based aircraft staying throughout the winter? Any possibility of a third aircraft for next summer?

Are ryanair going to return the Rome or start any new routes. Maybe a Berlin, Brussels or even a Girona!

Whats the winter looking like for charters?

Any news on flights to Eindhoven? Its a disgrace that the boro have been given less than 10,000 tickets.

I can answer some of those

Tomorrow is the last day of Eastern to BRS Why end it on a Tuesday

No indication from baby as yet

Winter charters looking just the same (TOM/AEA)

As for Eindhoven charters........Travelcare have managed to fill 4 daystoppers so far, 1 more still on sale plus a 1 night stop going out Tuesday. The 4th+5th daystoppers may operate from Newcastle 'due to the amount of aircraft departing Durham Tees Valley on the 10th May' Surely can't be any worse than the Rome morning!

Well if thats true i hope Peel are taking note. Thats one of the most pathetic things I ve ever heard. Do they not remember the cup final in Cardiff? Does anyone know if KLM are putting on more flights or bigger aircraft for it?

Well I just found out that Flight Options are taking a number of flights too
Tuesday dep 0800 and 1400 (2 night stops)
Wednesday dep between 0600 and 1000 (daystoppers) [not sure how many flights]
Thursday arr around 0330 (daystoppers) [my guess, at least 0430]
Thursday arr 1600ish and 2000 (2 night stops)
AFAIK KLM are still using 3 F70
All of these football flights I believe will eventually mould into slightly less, after all 9200 tickets isn't much!

I would like to know why Thomsonfly have given us another Boeing 737-800 when we were promised a Boeing 757-200 for the summer?

blahblah, I don't think it harsh. Cardiff was an early afternoon kickoff so all flights had to be gone in a shorter space of time. The flights to Eindhoven can be spread over a longer time scale. Also an extra bmibaby and Thomsonfly are not going to effect the airport that much trust me the airport can handle the traffic its just management cutting corners, it's well know at the airport.

Not sure what corners you are referring to that are being cut, once the airport is full it is full!

Surely the airport can handle the traffic....would be a right kick in the teeth if some fans had to go to the toon to catch there flight!!!....will KLM arrange something larger than a fokker for the AMS?...bet they have been inundated with calls, lot of fans staying in AMS as hotel rooms are scarce in Eindhoven.
Also some charters are heading to Dusseldorf as its only about 60 miles from Eindhoven,..plenty of hotels too!!,.........9200 tickets is a joke, will be loads more going just for the "crack",watch the match in the pubs....
Anything diffrent on the charters.....A330/767,....dare i say 747?...bring in the heavy metal!
Good point for the lads at Man Utd last night!

blahblah first of all the airport could sweep the southside and park aircraft over there. Better allocation of stands is another way of dealing with the problem. Not allowing slot times to slip. Lack of push back tractors, lack of buses to bus passengers to and from the aircraft.
Poor apron services is a major problem.
Cutting corners also relates to the under staffed ATC and the problems with de icer equipment etc the list goes on and on.

Don't need buses to transport pax, it's only a short walk even to the farthest stand.

Seems to me that you have answered your own question !!. As for your references & apparant issue with -the toon- then it is perhaps worth bearing in mind that this after all an aviation site.
With reference to wishful thinking about KLM heavy equipment, where do you think that KLM could conjure this up from ? As an efficiently run airline all aircraft are allocated to routes & I can't think of many precedents where one off demand situations result in a major increase in available seats.

Skyman771,
This is an aviation site???.......never in my wildest dreams!!!!!
Whats wrong with calling Newcastle the "toon"?,can think of worse names to call it!..Regarding KLM,they might sub one of the fokkers for something larger,..maybe a 737!,(perish the thought!),....this is a rumour network, isnt it?
Keep Smiling

DTV the furthest stands are all the way past the control tower don't think you want passengers walking all the way down there so buses are needed and the airport has (a) bus/es just for this job.
