Seems to me that you have answered your own question !!. As for your references & apparant issue with -the toon- then it is perhaps worth bearing in mind that this after all an aviation site.
With reference to wishful thinking about KLM heavy equipment, where do you think that KLM could conjure this up from ? As an efficiently run airline all aircraft are allocated to routes & I can't think of many precedents where one off demand situations result in a major increase in available seats.
